Is the flame yellow or white? I'm after the more natural yellow flame colour that you would get with a candle.

I have always been a natural candle person, so bought one of these to see what it was like. I was so impressed by how realistic they are that I now have them all sizes everywhere. I think the flame Is very realistic as does everyone who visits. The timer works well but my tip would be to buy ones with a remote so that you can choose how long to have them on.

Can you use rechargeable batteries for the tru candles?

Yes you can use rechargeable batteries. but ordinary AA batteries last for 600 hours. There is also a timer setting, 6 hours on 18 hours off
