The ships are from 3 to 5 inches long. The aircraft are 1 1/2 to 2/12 inches long. These are guesstimates as I didn't measure them. The ships and aircraft, unfortunately are not in the same scale

Battleship length and are they ww2 era

The one actual battleship model in there looks however to be early WWII era. Otherwise everything else I there is either late Cold War or 21st century. As for length, the ships are all approx 5-6 inches in length.

Can the guns on the warships be turned in just about any direction?

No, the guns do not move at all.

Do the aircraft carriers float?

They do. Sometimes they take on tiny bits of water, but you can shake it out. Great bath or pool toys. I think if I remember right some boats turn over while they float but for this price it is a steal how much is in this tub. I recommend getting a giant aircraft carrier to go along with the planes. We have one from matchbox that pairs nicely.
