Awesome book from a great press!
Sea Wolf Press has made the best editions of the Wizard of Oz series out there! The hardcover versions with full color pictures are gorgeous, but a little out of our range for a series of 14 books. However, these paperback versions are fantastic! Very affordable and they offer the best version possible. It is the same edition that was printed 100 years ago. The illustrations are crisp and clear. They decorate almost every page--including chapter headings and a lot of full-page pictures-- and they give little listeners a lot to look at. These are the original illustrations from John R Neil. This is how the book was published in Baum's time and is how it is supposed to be read! The lines are sharp and the details very clear. I have seen some versions that tried to copy the illustrations and they just get muddy. Not here. And that each of the 14 original books gets its own edition, without being squashed into digest form give each story its own space and pacing. The book holds up well, too, after continued nightly reading. You might find editions that have corrected some of the minor errors (such as placement of quotation marks in some places), but overall this series is so affordable and charming and lovely. I want the entire series--and will get the entire series!--for my little reader. This is should be the version that everyone gets, and I feel genuinely sad for anyone who has to endure with lesser quality editions, especially those without illustrations.

Nostalgic and Affordable!
I'm a huge fan of the Oz books, and this is a great addition to my bookshelf -- it's excellent quality, sturdy binding, and has all of the original illustrations. Would definitely recommend for readers of any age, especially for this price!

Amazing 1st edition reprints!
These are the only way to read these!! These books are amazing and these are wonderful 1st edition reprints. If you get the color version (highly recommended) keep in mind the 1st editions had around 16-12 color plates, so expect that in the reprints. SeaWolf Press is the place to get Oz books! I purchased the color hardcover and love it!!

A little goofy but still fun
Somewhere in my mom’s house, there’s a low-quality VHS animated film adaptation of this book that I didn’t really like but still watched quite a bit and that’s the movie’s problem because I really enjoy this story. In this story, Tip lives with the evil Mombi until he has to escape so that she doesn’t turn him to stone. He travels Oz and meets the Scarecrow while he’s in the middle of a crisis. Adventure ensues. This book is definitely less iconic than the first and a little more silly but I still appreciate the sense of adventure and magic. I also think there were a lot of strong women in this story and the reveal at the end could bring up an interesting conversation but because it’s the twist, I can’t really say much here.
