A great gift for my wife who is a novice player
We don't often plug it in. I bought it because I wanted something with a shallower depth which would be easier for her to play. She just plays at home and stum chords. Without amplification, sounds great in the living room. Sure it's not going to sound as good as deep as a dreadnaught but your average listener probably can't distinguish the difference unless you were to play a dreadnaught and this side by side. She's not a pro musician so it doesn't matter. It's a quality and rich sound. If she wants to play louder, a tiny, lightweight guitar amp would make it plenty loud.Runs on two AA batteries, which are cheaper and easier to find. What's really convenient in our situation is the built in tuner which can be turned on without needing to plug in. Press the button and it'll stay on for a while and definitely long enough for you to tune. If you never use the pickups, it's certainly not a waste because the electronics make it possible to have a built in tuner.Even without intending to ever use the pickups, I know it'd be nice to have in there because if we ever change our minds we aren't stuck trying to trade a guitar, having pickups put in (expensive), or using those terrible soundhole pickups. I'd choose this over the other Yamaha's that don't have pickups in this price range. She likes it a lot. Easy to play. A half turn of the truss rod was all that we needed to adjust it to be closer to ideal. We could have it worked on some more or paid someone to get it from 80% ideal to 100% ideal, but as is. it's already great.

decent quality for the price- very happy
I believe this is good value for the price. Typical Yamaha product. Good craftsmanship, very decent sound for the price. Keep in mind it is a small body guitar, so no big sound, lacks bottom end. Having said that, it is bright and clear. Good solid top end. Plugged in it is excellent. It is my go to for small body plugged-in fingerstyle. Unplugged I find my high ends (Morgan / Taylor) are much better full sounding. There u go, depends what u are looking for.

Great Budget Electro-Acoustic
I had my eye on this $300 budget electro-acoustic for months but when I saw one available from Amazon Warehouse for $248 I nabbed it right away. The guitar arrived having never been touched but it had been returned for whatever reason. This guitar is a great budget buy. It required some bridge tweaking and fret attention to get it to play optimally but this was expected at this price. For beginners, something like the budget Ibanez AEWC400 (twice the price) is probably a bit better out of the box.Purchasers need to know that the neck scale is slightly reduced from, say, a standard dreadnought...this can be a positive or negative depending upon what you want. Also, as a note to beginners who may find this guitar interesting, the point of this guitar is meant to be played through amplification and sound modifiers to achieve a very nice acoustic guitar sound. I play this guitar through a SONICAKE Acoustic Pedal plugged into a Fender Acoustisonic amp.The electronics are very nice at this price point. If you want great electro-acoustic guitar sound on a budget, even straight out of the box this guitar is very nice, but as stated above, making tweaks to it takes its playability up a good notch.
