MISSION Cooling UPF Boonie Hat - Unisex Sun Hat for Hiking, Beach & Fishing - Sweat & Water Activated Technology

I bought this hat just before spending a couple weeks in Cancun & it was perfect for my trip! From a long day walking around the ruins of Tulum to swimming in cenotes & hanging out at the pool this hat was everything I needed & wanted! I’m a big hat guy, I love wide brimmed hats that keep my head cool, keep the sweat off my brow & most importantly keep the sun off my face & This is by far my favorite hat so far. The brim is just wide enough to keep the sun off your face neck & ears but not too wide, it’s stiff enough to stay out of your vision but still folds up so it’s portable, the mesh on top keeps your head nice & cool but doesn’t allow it to get burned, it washes easily & dries quickly.The only bad thing I have to say is in regards to the “cooling technology”. Mission would have you believe that wetting their products & then wringing them out magically turns the hat into an air conditioner on top of your head…HAAAA! Not even close. The hat is “cool” for about 1 minute but then it warms up just like anything else would.That said, if you’re looking for a rugged, stylish portable boonie hat to keep the sun off your face & head then look no further.

..no other hats seemed to fit the bill. I never bought Mission items before, but I needed a hat to keep the sun off my head and out of my face for an upcoming trip to a very sunny/high humidity location. I read some reviews for this hat and decided to take a chance on this one, because this would save me from needing a separate cooling towel. I cannot say how the cooling will perform in any intense environments just yet, HOWEVER, it's currently sitting (dry) on a ledge directly under a heating vent, and it STILL gives off a cooling effect, and even when put on, so I have high hopes it'll get the job done! I originally bought the khaki color and enjoyed it so much I returned to buy the gray also! With both neutrals they'll match any outfit, although I wouldn't mind buying some more non-neutral colors (pink? ocean blue?) for the hat wardrobe! :) The hat is soft, has a decent sized brim, is lightweight, adjustable (both at the back of head and at the neck/chin strap), and foldable (which is great to shove into pockets or bags when not in use!). Highly recommend!

I love how light this hat is and it’s really comfortable. I appreciate the mesh sides, it keeps my head from getting to sweaty when mowing/working outside.

Erroneously gave poor feedback for seller on this item - can't find a way to recall. Seller/Amazon did great for this item. Hat arrived on time. I was a little skeptical that it would be fine, since USPS crammed it in my mailbox. However, upon opening, the brim appears to be cloth over foam, and it held its expected shape.Overall, much thinner than I expected, but that is not a bad thing - far from it. It is extremely lightweight, but holds its shape. To be fair, I have yet to wet/wring/wear, and may never. Purchased for the sun shade for mowing/yardwork, etc. It is easy to adjust headband, and fit my head, but I'm only about a 6-7/8. If you have a larger size head, you may have issues with it fitting comfortably. I wear with it fully extended to largest size band.Top of hat, where it covers your bald spot inside the band, actually touches my head. But fabric is super-thin there, but still seems to keep out the sun. From the band up, it is well ventilated with a lot of tiny holes. Breathes well.Only other issue is that I might have preferred a 4" brim, vice a 3". If I am bent over, I feel the sun on my neck. Would not have minded an extra inch to help with that case.Still, I wouldn't say it was as expected, but in the long run, it is different, but better than what I envisioned when I purchased.

My husband uses it to do yard work. It does keep the sun and some of the heat off the head, but it does not “cool”off like it says.

I've been searching all over for a lightweight, comfortable hat that fits my small head and doesn't make me look stupid. This hat checks most of those boxes, but it is slightly too large . Thankfully, it has a cord that lets you adjust the size a I can tighten it down for windy days. My husband has a kind of big head and it doesn't fit him though. The brim is wide enough that I feel like it provides adequate sun protection and I am looking forward to testing how hot it feels in the Baja sun on a trip coming up soon!

Great fit; my head is exactly 22" in circumference and bald. Brim broad enough to protect face, ears and neck. Bought for traveling through Europe.
