How do you stop it leaking from where the male thread screws in the faucet?

Try some of the Teflon thread tape around the threads. And ensure the nozzle is properly seated on the threads before screwing it back onto the faucet.

When I tighten a garden hose, it leaks because 5/8 threads is stopped by the washer which means the 3/4 threads are not sealed. What can be done?

To b honest you need to take the piece to local hardware store to see if they have the in between size. It took awhile for me to fit the perfect fit for my faucet. (I think I returned these n found something else)
