Great for center time
This excellent for daily hands on phonics lessons, word creation activities, rhyming lessons, or word families activities. This would also be good for independent center practice or small group instruction. I used it with younger elementary school students for a rhyming lesson with books written in rhyme. I also plan to use it in April with a poetry unit. As for cost, it was a bit pricey but seems to be much more durable than many of the other pocket charts and the metal gromets are great security. I liked that the chart came with all the various blends and vowel combinations as well as pictures to help preschool age children. The versatility is really what sells this chart.

Great Learning Tool
This is a fabric chart which reminds me of kite material, it is thick with plastic pockets on the front and comes with hooks to hang. The chart is set up with 3 rows of clear plastic pockets. Row with red vowels, a, e, i, o, u and y printed. Then yellow row with blue blends ie, oa, oi, oo, ou and us printed. Then a row with two plastic see through pocket with vowels and consonants. And then two pockets of vowel combinations and blends. Comes with laminated letter cards but there is no j,q, v, w, x, y and z. There are 12 blank cards and 31 picture cards. Very nice quality but the card will get bent with use.

Great in 1st grade classroom
-This chart has so many uses and functions in my classroom. I love that it is great at helping the children to spell. I also love the children are able to use this a center to reinforce their phonemic awareness skills. This chart has been great for my class.

So much potential...
This pocket chart is a fantastic educational aid. I'm in the early stages of homeschooling and teaching my son to read, so this is a great visual breakdown of various words. My complaint is that the execution is a bit...off. For starters, there is no letter y card. Not a single one. There is a pocket for y, but no card! Why?!There are also no cards for the letters j, q, v, w, x, or z. It's strange that ANY letters would be completely left out, but especially this many?! And even more strange, there are SIX d's, p's, and b's. There is only one n, u, and o (this one matters the least IMO since there's 2 'oo' cards). There are pockets for aw, ay, ew, oi, and ue - but no corresponding cards for any of them. There are 4 blank cards, but that's not even enough to fill in the missing letters.Since the letter dispersement is so uneven, the pockets themselves are used VERY unequally. I don't really get why there's a vowel pocket since there's a slot for each vowel, and the consonant pocket is absolutely packed. The only additional vowel combination is 'oe', which might as well have its own slot since so many others don't even have cards. We'll use one of the larger pockets for the pictures instead.Overall, I do like this pocket chart! It will serve its intended purpose and help me teach my son, but it definitely needs some adjustments.

Great Resource for Classroom
I love using pocket charts like this while homeschooling my kids. This one is nice and sturdy and organized. The cards all have a place which I appreciate. I also love that it came with hooks so that it can be hung over a door. That's very convenient when we have limited wall space.I'm looking forward to using this with my new kindergartner!

Great Teaching Tool for Reading
This is a great teaching tool to help reinforce phonics skills when you are teaching reading in K and 1st. It also makes a great learning center where students can practice sounding out words using a picture and then improve their spelling skills using the correct letters and vowel patterns/spellings.
