Quality, great performance and great temps
I was a little worried about getting a PCIe gen 5 x4, because of the lack of the advertised speed for read and write i.e. 14k, the high heat temps and the high cost. But after some research, I found out I should not worry too much as long as you choose the right Gen5 SSD and preferably with a Silicon Motion SM2508 controller. After my research I decided my best chose is a WD Black SN8100 2TB non heat-sink because I was going to use my motherboard heat-sink which was provided. But I would NOT recommend running any gen5 ssd without a heat-sink unless you are wanting thermal throttling when it reached 85°C+As you can see on the image with crystaldiskmark and the downloadable WD app the 14k read and write is achievable and the temps are fantastic with idle temps of 35°C to a max of 48°C whilst running crystaldiskmark. To concluded this is my own personal opinion, if you are ready to jump to the next generation gen 5 SSD I would highly recommend you look at a SN8100 purely for the temps and advertise speed, and because the temps are so low the longevity and durability of the drive will hopefully mitigate the higher cost of the next generation drives.but please do you own research.
