Regarding the dishwasher. Can they be put in the bottom or the top?

I wouldn't put them in the dishwasher. I did and they are dull and the inside is even pitted. They still work fine but you can really see the difference from the ones I wash by hand. I put pictures in my review. I always put plastic on the top .

Has anyone used these in a cooler? I need containers that will keep melted ice water from making a soggy mess of the contents.

I have and they were great! I went on a 4 day camping trip and used these in my cooler, no water got in. I highly recommend them.

Can these be put in the dishwasher?

I would recommend not putting into the dishwasher because the heat could warp the lids.

I LOVE THEM. WE WERE GIVEN A SQUARE RED ONE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND I WANTED TO FIND MORE. THE ONLY SLIGHT PROBLEM I FOUND WAS THAT THE SMALLEST ONE IN THE SET IS SOMETHING WE HAVEN'T USED BECAUSE MY SON WORKES OUT OF STATE ALOT AND WE HAVE TO PREPARE EXTRAS. THEY ARE DECENT SIZE AND I LOVE THE LOCKING SIDES. VERY GOOD FOR TRAVELLING, WHICH HE DOES EVERY WEEK. I HOPE I HAVE ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION. PAM
