I can't tell from the pictures, how do you put it on your laptop?

There are 2 small strips of double sided tape that you attach to the right of the camera. The sliding part then is in use to cover your camera or to allow usage of it. Very simple design, works with every laptop I've ever had, and gets rid of the post-it note solution.

Does it works with macbook pro retina? I've heard that these covers can damage the screen. Is that true? thanks

It's nearly impossible to align it such that it won't block the ambient light sensor (the thing that's responsible for automatically adjusting screen brightness and is to the left of the camera) without it partially blocking the camera's view.

Do you have to remove this to close the lid of your laptop? Does this work well with Mac Book Pros given the size?

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro 13" (a unibody without a retina display) with the C-slide webcam cover and the lid closes well enough for the sleep mode to activate. There remains a slight gap between the lid and the keyboard, little bigger than without the webcam cover, but small enough to be hardly noticeable. It appears that the people behind C-slide have done a good job making the cover as thin as possible. I'm very pleased with it.
