My 4 year old is obsessed with wind turbines. Can this just run by itself indoors? Just for him to sit and watch?

Thank you for your question. Wind Power 4 comes with an output mode. This means you can put a charged rechargeable battery (or an alkaline battery) in the turbine and switch it to output mode, which will spin the axle (which the blades connect to). Alternatively, you can charge the rechargeable battery by placing the turbine outside on input mode on a windy day. Then that energy can be used to turn the axle on output mode.

Is the connector usb ?

The wind turbine generator can charge rechargeable batteries, or run off of batteries. There are no USB connections.

Can you make it spin on its own without wind?

Yes, you can spin the blades manually by hand or with a powerful fan. You can also set it to spin using battery power.
