AFAIK, this is the way all films work and there is no film that works otherwise. It has to do with which side is getting the light. If you are looking for privacy and UV/IR reduction, consider adding a Frosted/Wavy/Tulip type film with this film on the inside. People on the outside will see the image distorting film (as many windows high as desired) and you will have the UV/IR protection. There may be UV/IR blocking films with frosting already on them, I have not looked.
