This is a cleaner and not a sealer. It is safe to use around your fireplace.

Is it effective in removing spots from hard water?

It doesn’t remove spots. It’s the best and easiest protector/cleaner I have used. My marble is white, honed. I use Kohler cast iron sink cleaner, with a buffing motion, in small areas to remove water spots near my sink. It is not approved for marble and it could totally ruin your countertop. Ask a professional what to use.

Anyone compare this to miracle sealants tile & stone cleaner???

I don't know anything about the things you are asking about but the stone and marble place in SF uses this but not as the only thing. It has a small amount of sealer in it. So once the stone is sealed with what ever you want to use then using this keeps it up with daily use. Its not the deep sealer its a product you use for daily or weekly cleaning.
