How to spread the arms horizontally? I have tried by removing the small screws, bt didn work

I also had to have my husband hold the lower part of the lamp (the part with the switch on it) because sit was turning in the base when I tried to adjust the arms.

I can’t say for certain but the cool thing is that each of the individual lights can be rotated up, down, sideways, etc. so you have control over where you want the light to be. Sometimes, if we want less direct light, we aim them toward the ceiling or the wall. We love it!!
