Good laptop, bad keyboard
This is a fine laptop.Design: it's a solid machine. I've owned other Asus laptops and believe them to be the best. This S5606CA is no exception. It is light but sturdy. I believe it is a full metal chassis.Performance: it has one of the latest CPU's from Intel, the Arrow Lake 285H. Honestly, I can't tell the difference in performance on this chip versus my LG Gram with a 1065G CPU. I'm not talking about benchmark tests. I'm just comparing from my use for web programming, photo and video editing, streaming (YouTube, Prime Video, and Netflix), normal casual web browsing, and very light gaming. The OLED screen DOES look pretty awesome, I sometimes mistaken that I'm on this new Asus and not my LG.Complaint: my biggest regret about this laptop is the keyboard. There is no CONTROL key on the right side. I've never used a keyboard where there is only one CONTROL key, which is on the left side (where it is normally located). In its space is a Copilot key. I think this is extremely ridiculous since this isn't even a copilot laptop.I had considered returning the laptop but thought I could adjust to it. Before I knew it, time passed by and my return period expired. But at least I'm stuck with a decent machine, even though I see it is now $80 cheaper. To potential buyers: wait for this laptop to drop under $1000. That's what I think it's worth as of June 2025.
