Is there any special type of extension cord I can use? It trips my breakers on every outlet in my apartment except one without a window

It's a powerful machine. I would suggest while running it to unplug items that are not being used at the time. Like, your microwave and anything else that pulls quite a bit of electricity. We used to reside in a Prewar building. I would've never purchased this air conditioner system if we were still residing there.

I don't have slider windows. My windows open from the bottom up. I think they are called double hung. How can I use this unit?

I have the same problem- double hung windows. I’m hoping I can jury rig it with heavy duty tape and the installation pieces from my now-defunct previous portable AC.

Should the bottom drain plug stay plugged in and use continuous drain?

Normally it does not need to be drained frequently. If you have concerns, it is recommended to use it for about 3 weeks to check whether it needs to be drained
