It is lined and relatively soft.

Q: What materials is the case made out of?

They are metal. Disregard anyone that tells you that they are "hard plastic". A magnet sticks to the case and it sets of the metal detector.

Q: Will my glasses be destroyed if I sit on the case?

I don't think so. It is a hard case. I've been walking around with it in my front pocket with no problems.
