Get this tool or risk breaking your toilet or your face.
I replaced a cartridge using the handle of the pliers method. It took so much force that I broke the cartridge vanes in the process and almost snapped the pliers handle. Only those who have done this know what I'm talking about. However, with this tool the torque is evenly applied across 6 vanes instead of 2. It made removing the old cartridge and screwing in the new cartridge much smoother and easier and safer. This tool is plastic but very sturdy. Anyone living with a flushmate toilet should have this tool in the house. Get the tool!

It's pretty much a single use item
I don't think you can complete the repair without this, even if it says you can. It worked. However, it's made out of plastic and it stripped quickly and badly. I had to use it a second time because to adjust the tightness, and it was just about worn out.

Works well, much easier to remove, replace, and adjust the flush mate cartridge

Why would you not use this?
This made removing/replacing the Flushmate cartridge a snap. Sure, you can use the pliers handles and fight with it, but why? This makes it brain-dead simple. It snaps right on a 3/8" socket wrench.

Why plastic?!! Call for help!
If your cartridge is severely stuck just save the money and call a plumber that knows these toilets or just replace the tank. I ended up breaking off three of the fins, stripping both the inside and outside of the nutshape at the top while getting the cartridge out... To get the cartridge out I use hot water vinegar and still broke more tools in the process. Then after finally getting the cartridge out replacing it with a new cartridge I discovered that either when it was installed or while fighting to get it out the flushmate tank was cracked. Just call or replace the tank. If you need this tool likelihood there's something worse going on
