Q: Are your products gluten free?

The seller and the person who answered making it seem like everyone is an idiot bc it's obviously gluten would be in wheat straw? Or did they mean the opposite.... Don't think the seller understood (maybe said no that they don't contain gluten). I replied to clarify bc of those errors. As the more detailed (previous?) answer explained, WHEAT STRAW DOES NOT CONTAIN GLUTEN. Don't believe there is a certification showing it's gluten free (like there is with foods) bc as with hemp the definition IS that it's ONLY a biproduct (the leftovers). Think corn stalk once the corn cobs are released or hemp after CBD AND TCH are removed from cannabis plant. Environmental impact, plastics are the worst and including melamine, which IS hard plastic. The wheat straw is at least fifty percent better with half being safe plastic and the other a safe biproduct that needs to be used anyway. The items can be recycled but not too many locations have yet. Correlle and stoneware aren't either that I'm aware of. The 50/50 version of this product breaks down in 5-8 yrs or sooner with plastic taking 50-80 yrs or longer.

Q: How long do they take to biodegrade?

The straw wheat bowls break biodegrade in 4-8 years or less if 50/50. Full plastic takes much longer to biodegrade 20-50 years or longer. The difference of the 50/50 straw wheat mixed plastic polymer is easily discernable than "regular" plastic. Other than biodegrading faster, the plastic used in regular plastic (including melamine) uses petroleum, a coal byproduct whereas the type of plastic mixed used in the new generations does not. Unsure if the person saying they are just plastic as all all others on Amazon is meaning ALL polymer plastics made or just the ones sold on Amazon? The word polymer itself shows the difference but won't get into that definition here.

Q: Are these bowls gluten free? (Will they cause cross contamination)

I bought them because they are bpa free, nontoxic , microwave and dishwasher safe so i don't think they break down into cross-contamination. If you have some special major reaction to gluten they are made from Wheat Straw. Perhaps you need to contact the mfg. Douluv directly by email or thru Amazon. I couldn't find contact info, so Amazon can help contact the mfg.
