Parenting For Dummies

I bought this for a friend with two 16 year old twins. It was not relevant as the book deals with parenting small children. For that, the book is great!

I gave this book to my little sister about 16 years ago and she said she found it very helpful as a new mother. So I am giving it again to my pregnant boss. I love how the Dummy books just keep it plain and simple.

First half of book is geared for new parents or parents with little ones. Which would be great if I fit into that category, but I was needing something geared more towards the chaos that comes with parenting teens...I recommend this book for new parents, but there wasn't much help for folks with older kids.

So far the book is excellent reference on what to do and what not to do as parents. It is in a easy format which you can always refer to!!! I am enjoying reading this book!!!

Bought this as a humorous gift and it turned out it was not only fun but also very useful.

If you're expecting to read about sophisticated theories on children's psychological development or anything like that, this is not the book for you. On the contrary, if you'll be a parent for the first time (as is my case) an are frightened to death about changing a diaper, knowing when to take your baby to the doctor, or any other matters of such nature, you'll find this book really useful and it will decrease you anxiety. As all the other "for dummies" books, it is well structured, simple to read and understand, and provides some very pertinent tips about the 'practical' aspects of being a parent. There are also some section where the books touches the subject of psychological development and educational theories, but I will definitely buy another book to know more about this.

I am enjoying reading this. The author uses experiences he's had with his own children. It doesn't make you feel like you are a bad parent. I've had many laughs when reading the book and many "At least I'm not the only one" I like reading "_______ for Dummies".

Very detailed book! Skimmed through it. Got it as a gift for expecting partners (first timers).

It's all learned by doing, anyway.
