A great reference guide for beginners
I’ve just retired and turned 65. I drive Uber from 6 am to 1 pm, then come home and relax. By 2 I am rested. I am growing tired of the Comrade Trump impeachment stuff on CNN and MSNBC, so I decided to begin collecting coins. Mostly I do proof collections, but the Apollo 11 50-year proof set was something I hope my son enjoys on the centennial in 2069. It’s a nice coin, but poorly mounted in its case! The book is very thorough. It’s great for beginners and those who are more experienced. Thumb’s up!

Loved this book
This was my first coin book so I was not sure what to expect. But, this book helps me when looking at coins and determining the price. Book is full of bright colorful pictures and easy to read price guides. This book shows every coin ever produced in America and if that coin has any errors or different variety’s. My book came in perfect condition with a coupon in the back for a free quarter book. One thing I wished this book had is markers on the outside of it to get to each section quickly. I had to put post it notes on the top so I can easily switch from pennies to nickels and back again. But great book in my opinion definitely will buy the next one that comes out.

Excellent source of info on all U.S. Mint coins
Excellent resource, just as advertised. I have learned a great deal about my collection and coins in general from this book. The market values are good as an indication, though it would be impossible to post numbers that are always accurate due to the fluctuation of the markets. Good information on mintage, history, etc. Sometimes I just sit down and leaf through it for fun without looking for any particular coins. If you're into coins, get this book!

key resource for collector
The Red Book is one of my key resources for changing coin values and coinage details. I've acquired a copy each year for many years. While not the only item you need to discover value its a consistent, informative and detailed resource for the collector and casual hobbyist who wants to know about US coins.

A very pleased numismatist
I bought this book in order to help assess a coin collection recently passed down to a group of us. This book provided great information to allow quality grading, insight on special types and versions, historical background, and current values so that I could get my hands around not only potential market value, but historical intrinsic value of this collection. Very helpful!!!

Recommended for It’s Ease and Completeness
This book reminds me of the coin book I had as a kid, so feels familiar to use. The spiral binding requires some care to keep pages aligned, so if you are not careful I might recommend traditional binding. The content is complete without being overwhelming, so it is useful for the beginner as well as more experienced collector.

Amazon Abysmally Flunked The Simple Task Of Delivering A Copy Of The Red Book.
All that needs be said about the Yeoman Red Book is that it is THE fundamental Primer, the annual Edition of which belongs in every serious Collector’s Collection. Simply put, it’s indispensable to understanding what to buy, and why to buy it, whether as a basic guide for investment purposes, or for a starting place to understand the value of your Collection, or simply as both an anthology and encyclopedia of Numismatism of US Coinage. Buy it annually. Study it as a numismatic Primer. Accept the reality that its price values are fundamentally ‘general,’ and of little practical use in valuing your Coins. Buy the companion Blue Book as well. Study both, in order to determine a realistic, pragmatic value of your Collection. Now, having given the Red and Blue Books the highest praise, I will evaluate the Seller, Amazon. My 1-star rating is for the Seller, Amazon, and bears no relationship to my rating of Yeoman’s Red and Blue Books, which I rate as 6 stars out of a maximum of 5. This was my first time purchasing the new, annual, Hardbound, 2020 Edition of the Red Book from Amazon and, assuredly, it will be the last. Amazon should be the best seller, not the worst. My new, 2020 Edition arrived in some sort of ridiculous cardboard package which can best be described as resembling a 2’ x 3’ Manta Rey. As the book is only about 8” x 5”, there is no plausible excuse for using the absurdly large, flattened package in which it was shipped. But of far worse consequence, Amazon committed the Cardinal Sin of plastering a huge, 2” x 3” gooey sticker on the outer, back cover, which smothered the all-important library information on the back cover. In fact, THAT sticker was stuck on top of A SMALLER STICKER. This is INEXCUSABLE. Amazon should know better; in fact, IT DOES, as many of us Collectors have regularly and persistently complained about the placement of these awful stickers on the outside and inside covers and spine of books advertised as “used, like new.” There is surely nothing “like new” about an important, Hardbound, collectable book which is defaced by the placement of these aggravating, annoying, difficult-to-remove stickers. The removal of these gooey, goopy stickers is an art-form, as it requires great care, using a specific substance designed to remove this type of gooey residue which remains on the surface after the Recipient has painstakingly removed the sticker(s) in a time-consuming exercise; the slightest mistake in removing these stickers (which mar and deface a brand new, collectible Edition of the Red Book) can easily damage the surface of the cover or lift off the gold-lettered information, or both. In short, SHAME ON AMAZON in ruining my great excitement on receiving the latest 2020 Edition of this requisite Collectible to my substantial collection of the Yeoman Red and Blue Books. I invite Amazon to respond, but I’m not holding my breath. Amazon should require all Booksellers to disclose the presence of stickers on the front or back inside or outside covered of a Book, or its spine, so that the prospective Purchaser may make an informed decision as to whether he or she wishes to purchase a book which bears all such stickers.
