Because the flange is so large, at least five eights of an inch wide, food gets trapped under it. If you don’t clean it every day starts to collect food and get grungy. I use it in the sink that has my dish strainer in it. But I use my old one, that is a better design, in my main sink.

These strainers are almost perfect - the one I use for the bathtub tends not to stay in place, due, I guess, to the force of the water. Otherwise, I know that, over time, they will save me a call to the plumber to snake out my sink.

This mesh drain insert has been great in catching small and large food particles in the kitchen sink. If you don't have a garbage disposal, it saves the inevitable clogs from becoming an issue. The only drawback is the edge of the chrome ring. It is extremely sharp and you must be very careful with handling.

Different sizes available to choose from. I only have the item for a few days and have not observed any discoloration on the metal.

Dislike: Somewhat difficult to get the screen out for cleaning.

Better than I expected. They both fit totally flush in my sink and are the perfect size.
