Planning Programs for Adult Learners: A Practical Guide

This was a text for my class on leading the adult learner.It is a good investment.If you are an adult educator, you will likely benefit from this book.There are sample documents to help educational leaders and managers to plan programs for adults.My class syllabus used this text in conjunction with Wlodkowski and Ginsberg's text called Enhancing Adult Motivation to Learn. I bought them both on Amazon and they arrived quickly.Thank you, vendors.

In my doctoral studies, I learned program planning with the 1st edition of this book. Over the last 13 years, it has been at my side as I administered educational programs for museums, corporate training departments, and institutions of higher education. When the 2nd edition came out, I updated my own copy. Frequently, I purchased the book for my own staff.When I learned a 3rd ed was out, I was thrilled because I hoped it would incorporate the many exciting technological developments since the 2nd edition was written. While it does do this, it also left online (and not in print) MANY of the helpful figures and exhibits that are at the heart of what make this an ongoing user's manual.IF I were teaching a program planning course, I'd have to use this 3rd edition and spend the time pulling online exhibits (accessible with purchase of written text) to the attention of my students. As I practice program planning, however, I simply do not have the time.The third edition is already shelved (I'll pull it only to look for some insights on new technologies); the 2nd edition is back on my desk. The updated edition of Planning Programs for Adult Learners includes important information about the program planning process. The online references are a nice addition to the text. It continues to include useful and practices exercises and checklists for the reader and students to use.A well done, easy read for use by the new or experienced educator of adults.

My problem is not really with the text, but with my professor's use of it in my class. Many of the exercises assume that you have experience in program planning. I do not, so a lot is left for the imagination.The text arrived in perfect condition and I like the set-up, so to annotate better.The book uses a larger font, so it makes it an easier read, especially for my already strained eyes.

This is a wonderfully structured book which made for interesting reading. The scenarios and exhibits as well as online resources are resources that helped me to better understand the interactive model!

This book was required for a course I am taking in Adult and Community Education. The content was easy to read and understand. I actually found this book enjoyable to read.

I needed this text for one of my online classes and found that it was well organised. It is easy to read and the authors give good, dynamic examples of what they are presenting.Highly recommend this book

Good price and fast shipping.

At first, I was surprised that my M.Ed. course was going to use the previous edition, over 10 years old. Then I discovered that this book had just came out and was updated to reflect the changes in education world. I recommend this edition for sure!!

I got this book second hand. The description made me think it was like a new book but it wasn't! I purchased it just a few dollars cheaper than a new book. I chose to get the second for some environmental friendly reasons but not a wise decision

Needed this book for a class and it is a keeper. Excellent content, very useful for anyone in the Adult Education profession.

Any course taught using this as its textbook is going to be long, painful and dry.
