Excellent sofar
I have Chevrolet HHR with 2.4 engine. Per the on-board display it seemed my thermostat was opening around 190-195deg but while driving the temp was kind of all over the place from 190-207deg consistently. There were times it would even get up to 217deg idling in traffic until the fan activated and started to cool it down. I did some research and came to find out that this engine originally came with 180 deg thermostat, not 195. At this point The car had 175,000 miles and I figured it was probably time for a coolant flush anyway so I decided to replace the thermostat while the dex-cool was out.Well the thermostat I took out looked to be original and was marked as "180". There were scrape marks on the frame of the thermostat and the core in the center. The gasket spring and pin all looked OK but didn't seem like it was quite in a straight line anymore. The old thermostat was clearly binding up and not opening/closing smoothly so this explained the inconsistent operating temps and mild overheating.I flushed the system thouroughly and installed this thermostat. Has been around 20k miles since install and Temps now run 176-190 degrees consistently, wether on the highway or in traffic, summer or winter. At no point has the temp gotten above 210 or activated the fan at 217. Thermostat is doing it's job wonderfully. Time will tell if it lasts.
