aromatherapy at it best - motivates you to wash dishes :)
I've been using the smaller bottle for quite awhile. we tried the lemon one and our household agreed the lavender one is a winner. It doesn't have the overpowering scent of citrus and more of a soothing essential oil kind of scent which makes washing the dishes more pleasant and something to look forward to!Having the larger size is merely a convenience. It isn't a volume discount if you find the 16 oz bottle at a good price. You are just helping save the environment and use less plastic (though I question how much!)

The best dishwashing soap
For many many years, our family used Palmolive. This was fine, but we didn't want to purchase from this manufacturer any more, and switched to the cheaper Ajax. Well, there's a reason Ajax is cheaper - it's very watery and shoot out of our soap dispensor like water. So, reading all the good reviews, we tried Mrs. Meyer's, and it's not only much better than Ajax, but it's also much better than Palmolive. If you wash your dishes with bare hands, you konw the feeling of a clean dish, and there is no doubt no amount of Palmolive or Ajax will give you the clean that Mrs. Meyers achieves. It dispenses very nicely, being more viscous (thicker). Due to its thicker nature you do want to rub it into the sponge to get the most from it. I have been trying the different fragrances, and so far, I did NOT like the rain water as it was too strong and chemical to me, but the honeysuckle, peony and lavender all smell great and not too overpowering. Of those 3, so far, I like lavender the best. But they all work equally well, so it's just a matter of smell preference. I'm still trying a few more, then will settle on one for the Subscribe and Save. I wish they sold larger bottles since we keep the bottle under the sink for the built in soap dispenser, but at least the bottle neck fits really well with the dispenser attachment.

best value/best price per ounce/mL
I've used Mrs.Meyers lavender products for 20 years. I'm very sad they discontinued the powdered scrub/cleanser because it cleaned my bathroom shower/sink toilet as well as comet/ajax but less harmful ingredients/smell.The pros of this dishwashing soap are: not watered down or thin so you don't use too much/too fast: very concentrated and works well. This refill size is a much better value than buying the regular size bottle every time. I refill the smaller bottle for daily use and keep this larger one elsewhere. It lasted me 11 months and I use it almost every day. It's definitely a better choice than the stuff you see most often on conventional store shelves Another pro is that they say it's not tested on animals. Haven't deeply looked into it to confirm. The cons: I always suspected it was not quite as "clean"/"natural"/"organic"--whatever term you want to use--because even 20 years ago--the scent gave me a slight headache and definitely did not smell like lavender--altho the scent is nice and not super strong. But back then, internet was much newer and it wasn't as common to look up every single thing online--so I continued using it because I liked the smell better than the Biokleen dish soap I'd been using. However, it still was very harsh on my hands, and more recently I learned it's not quite as non-toxic as I like. So I went back to Biokleen--which is less toxic and much easier on my hands. Unfortunately--that company was bought out and the dish soap was reformulated and is now very thin and less concentrated so you end up using quite a bit. I know this review is for the Mrs Meyers only, but comparing/contrasting it to my other choice so people can more easily decide b what's most important to them when deciding whether to purchase this refill sized Mrs Meyers dish soap or not.

Wonderful lavender scent
Love Mrs Meyers lavender scent -- it's not harsh and chemical, but soft and subtle. It actually reminds me of the Mrs Meyers rose scent, which is now sadly discontinued. I also have the cleaner and a room mist in the same lavender scent -- all are great products.
