Nice kit, but I wish it accomodated thicker rulers.
I have a couple of rulers in my shop that the trammel does not fit:a 48" aluminum ruler that is 1/8" thick, and the ruler from a Starretttri-square that is 0.10" thick. I think the trammel gap is about 0.09".

Awsome tool but better QC needed.
Great tool! Only issue was that when i received the item the gap for the ruler on one of the arms was far too narrow. I disassembled it, to find out that due to poor manufacturing the mating surfaces had a rolled up edge causing the arm on the underside to lean in to far. I had to use a needle file to shave it down flat and then everything worked fine.

LOVE IT! Very easy to learn how to use
LOVE IT! Very easy to learn how to use! Holds any regular sized pencil if the little one runs out. Plenty of extra blades if needed.

Drawing and MAKING Circles Made easy
Not sure I'd want to try drawing to dimensions of 1/1000th of an inch with this, but if I COULD set it that finely, it would certainly hold the setting and produce precise circles.I searched a long time for trammels that would also allow me to cut a circle, and not just draw it. The Trend M/CF501 does just that. The parts are all substantial. The aluminum clamping screws hold the "points" on whatever bar I choose, and the pivot point and pencil or knife point solidly. The result is ability to scribe a clean circle. The blade is long enough to go through typical cardboard, and tough and sharp enough to make clean marks in wood. One of the few tools I've gotten that was actually much better than I thought it would be!

Would buy again
I've used this set on a metal ruler on a couple of occasions and have found it really difficult to maneuver both the centering point and pencil at the same time; especially with the cutting blade and point. I have no better to recommend but wouldn't buy this again.

Nifty, non-tippy trammel set
I really like the low center of gravity these trammels offer. They don't feel at all tippy when drawing or cutting a circle.Setting them up takes a little getting used to and as others have mentioned, the fit and finish could be better. But after a little deburring, my Starrett combination square blades fit them nicely.
