Each Dawn I Die Lives On Blu-Ray
Warner Archive releases this classic 1939 prison drama that stars Jimmy Cagney as an intrepid newspaper reporter trying to expose graft in the government who is framed for manslaughter in a drunk driving accident and sent to prison for twenty years, encountering then befriending a living legend convict/gangster (played by George Raft) whose fates become intwined as they try to get out of jail...This is a huge upgrade from the 2006 DVD, looking breathtaking in HD, porting over all the many extras from that DVD, though nothing new was added. Still, this a memorable and well-crafted drama that remains entertaining today. Hopefully the other WB Cagney films on DVD (like "G-Men" and "City For Conquest") will get upgraded as well.

These oldies are great!
You cannot go wrong with The Warner Achive Collection. If u can catch a good sale, like I try to do, you’ll get some of the best quality in restoration available in physical media. I refuse to pay full price for their Blu rays because I ain’t rich, but Warner has sales. And their sales can be worth the wait. James Cagney is one of favorite actors to ever grace the screen-and with these upgrades in blu ray quality, it’s stunning to watch these films. In many ways, it feels like watching the flicks for the first time.

Cagney and Raft at the top of their game!
Takes you back to a complicated time with hard working people that had all the angles. Classic 1930’s gangster film at its best.

A Pleasure to Watch.
It was a pleasure to watch Cagney and Raft together. I had never seen this movie before but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Some of the fight scenes look a little phony but that's typical of movies made during this period. The quality of the DVD is excellent, both picture and sound. If you like gangster movies you will definitely enjoy this one.
