I would suggest you order that size or a medium. These trousers have a drawstring waist so you can pull them in or let them out a few inches. Sorry can’t be if anymore assistance than this.

Are the trousers ‘see through’?

If I recall no - but as soon as they arrived I sent them back as they aren't really linen trousers and the quality was poor

34 to 36 inch is rec Large, they are draw string at waist so should be OK they are great in hot weather very light and cool look smart too. 👍
