Pretty darn good for canned Indian food!
I love Indian food and try to make a point to check out an Indian restaurant on any trip I make and have sampled all of the Indian restaurants in my city. If I could, I’d eat Indian food almost every day, but really good Indian food can be a bit pricey, so I’ve also been eating various brands of canned and bagged (like MRE style) types of Indian dishes since college (so almost 20 years). This is by far one of the best in terms of taste and quality. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still like the Taco Bell of Indian food, but if you’ve got a craving for those delicious unique spices and curries, but are on a budget, this is definitely a decent option. I prefer to pour mine over basmati rice, but I’m sure it would be good with most varieties of naan as well. The case I ordered doesn’t expire for like 3 years. lol! So it’s a good item to stock up on. Grab a case of this and a 20lb bag of rice and you’ve got at least 24 meals that will stay good until the apocalypse. I can’t recall whether I’ve ever gotten this brand over the years before, but I can tell you I am now looking at the other canned styles they offer as I enjoyed this one so much, I figure it’s worth trying some of the other styles they have to offer. I will definitely order another case of this particular dish once I run out of this order. If you’re not sure, just go ahead and put it in your cart and do it, as long as you have the proper expectations, you won’t be disappointed! Enjoy!

Canned, yet spicy and delicious
Yes, it is canned. But honestly, my go to. Pop it on rice, good to go. I do cumin rice in instant pot. Even better. Or try Naan. The Matar Paneer has some mild to medium heat to it, rice will balance that out. Good flavor profile. You can always tinker with it, but then you might as well cook from scratch. Unless you go to a high quality Indian restaurant or mom and pop operation, same as on the buffet on many regular. As I do not have easy access to either, and do not always feel like cooking, this is a great quick fix for squeaky paneer and peas and curry . Good ingredients, too. Usually good expiration date, yet when I forgot I still had some cans in the back of my pantry and ate them way past exp date while cans showed no signs of bloating or denting (do at your own risk, lol). Good stuff, try it, my fav product from Jyoti.

I could eat Jyoti Matar Paneer every day; incredibly tasty. The spicing seems perfect not hot and adds to the enjoyment of this food.

Dented Cans.
Two cans horribly dented. I’m not sure if they should be eaten. I haven’t eaten any cans because that threw me off. However, this product has always been delicious.

Lots of green peas per can. Quick and convenient if you're a fan of peas and Indian
5 stars. This has been a great item; I've been buying this for years. It seems a bit spicier than in years past, or that could be my imagination. Anyway, you can calibrate the spice level if you add in your own sour cream or Greek yogurt or even cottage cheese.

Questionable Hair-like fibers in this
I normally wouldn't make this public without a dialogue from the manufacturer, but I wrote to them and they never responded, so maybe they'll see this review.I found an alarming number of small hair-like fibers in this food. Probably hundreds. They were as thin as human hair, but short (roughly 1-2" long), and difficult to photograph with my phone. I had a loupe handy so I used that to photograph a couple of them, but admittedly the photos don't a great job.I'm guess they're pea pod fibers or something organic (I hope!) but it's still suspect and I eat a lot of Indian food and have never seen them anywhere else.I opened up a few more cans and they all varying amounts of this stuff, from a crazy high amount to just some, but regardless I'm unfortunately going to have to throw out this whole case :(

Tasty but spicier than expected
Tasty but spicier than expected. The spice of the sauce overwhelmed the paneer and peas, but with addition of yogurt & plenty of naan it was ok. I probably won't but this brand again except for products labelled as "mild" - which I expect will still be very spicy for me.Cans were in excellent condition, no dents.

Tasty for Breakfast
When I scramble some eggs in my skillet, I often will add about 3 tablespoons of Matar Paneer. So tasty! Sometimes I'll spoon all of it onto a tortilla for a more filling breakfast.
