I'm finally getting around to writing this review about the Doheny's 3/4 HP pump I bought early summer last year. Long story short, I'm VERY pleased with this pool pump and particularly with Doheny's Pool Supplies company. This was bought to replace the original pump that came with the Intex Ultra-Frame pool we bought several years ago, as the Intex pump had been making dull rattling sounds pretty much all the year before and continued when we started the pool early last year. In knew it was just a matter of time before it quit. The plethora of great reviews and its lower cost as compared to other name brand pumps gave me confidence to buy it. The pump arrived quickly and with no issues. The only problem I experienced wasn't with the pump but with the apparent non-standard hose coupling size of the inlet and outlet hoses from Intex - they simply would not fit the standard size ports on the Doheny pump.I contacted Doheny's via Amazon and to my surprise I got a call from them shortly after. The woman, I forget her name now, was very apologetic and wanted to know what they could do to make my experience good. After explaining the connection issue she volunteered to send an adapter kit designed to match the Intex hoses with the ports on the pump, at no charge to me. I told her I wasn't looking for any freebie and that I would gladly pay for the adapter, especially since the problem was not with the pump but with the Intex hoses. She said Doheny's wanted to do this so I would have a good experience. I was VERY impressed, not only with the quick response, but also the fact they called and covered the cost of the adapter to enable connecting the Intex hoses to the pump.Before I contacted Doheny's I had researched the Intex hose connection issue and had seen the adapter kit Doheny's sent. The kit sounded like it would resolve the issue but while quite a few reviewers said it worked many also said it required quite a few wraps of teflon sealing tape on the adapter threads to make them water tight. When I received the adapter kit from Doheny's I followed this advice and got everything connected and water tight.Now, I was finally able to see if the pump would live up to all the great reviews. When I first powered it on I was absolutely amazed at how quiet it runs and how much water volume it flows through the sand filter. I have the pump AC power connected to an outside timer that's set to run continuous for 8 hours each day. Every since getting the pump setup it has amazed me, my wife and others who've come to enjoy our pool. When I had them get close to listen how quiet it is they all were impressed, saying they didn't hear it running until they got real close, like within 2-3 feet of it. Having a pump that flows the volume it does and runs so quiet no one even hears it makes the use of the pool that much more enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you Doheny's for making this pump available and especially, for us, for coming to our rescue with the adapter kit to enable me to connect our pool to your wonderful pump. If or when it comes time to replace this pump I will definitely be going to Doheny's again before looking anywhere else.

I have an above ground metal frame pool that came stock with a small cartridge filter and integrated pump into my skimmer. The filter and pump on my original pool were less than ideal. It would clear up the pool, but could not keep up with heavy use over the summer months with my kids using the pool almost daily. For this year, I decided to update to a pump and sand filter setup to provide better capability.I was unable to find a preconfigured pump and sand filter setup in stock or for a reasonable price, so I decided to purchase a pump and filter as individual components and plumb it together myself. Based on the sand filter I purchased, I could go up to a 3/4 HP pump. This is the pump I ended up selecting. I'm happy to say that this pump has worked very well form me after setting it up and using it for a little over a month.Pros:This pump is quiet. I was worried that it would be loud considering its size, but it isn't any louder than the tiny integrated pump on my pool. It just makes a very light hum when it's on, and I don't find it distracting at all.This pump moves a lot of water. This pump is capable of generating a natural water circulation in my pool when not being used, and the debris gathers in the center of the pool to make vacuuming easy. It also cycles enough water to keep the pool clean with daily use.Setup was fairly easy. The pump comes with adapters for 1.5 inch PVC, which I used to plumb up to the sand filter, and also used to connect from my pool to the pump. If you are comfortable working with PVC, then connecting this is fairly straight forward. I did have to use a rubber connector with hose clamps to make the transition from my pools skimmer connection to the intake PVC pipe, but that is an issue with my pool, and not with this pump.Cons:Having to install a grounding rod and bond the motor housing to the ground was annoying. I wouldn't recommend skipping this process though, as it is there as a critical safety factor if there were ever to be a short within the pump motor.Lastly, the plug cord on my pump had a small nick in the outer insulation. It was not enough to cause me any concern, and I taped over it with electrical tape. I'm assuming that I could contact Doheny's about getting a replacement cable, but I haven't done that. I may hard wire this into a control panel at some point anyway.I'm very happy with this pump. I would buy this pump again based on my experience with it so far.

This thing is a workhorse. I had it covered but out in the open pumping about 15ft each way through 1.5" PVC. This is beyond superior to the Intex pump that came with our pool even though we had the larger one.I also upgraded to a 100lb sand filter from the Intex version. Great combo

this unit was shipped quickly, and arrived within four days. installation was simple and it is quiet running. I and it was not very expensive I am very pleased with my purchase,

This seems to be an excellent pump. It is quieter than the one it replaced, and so far works perfectly. The shipping was super fast. I was really impressed, and I will not hesitate to order from them again. I highly recommend the pump and the company.Alan

Needed to replace a 2 year old Hayward pump after it became as noisy as a cheap garbage disposal. This pump is super quiet and works superbly. It is also substantially less expensive than a Hayward. Not a knock on Hayward, I got 17 years out of my original. The model that only lasted 2 years was obviously defective. But, this Doheny pump is the cats ass!!,

Easy to install. Came with fittings. Would buy again.
