Best ice trays for water bottles!
I had one of these from years ago and wanted more and could never find them. I bought some of the silicone ones and they made the water taste horrible and had a residue. Then I found these and bought a couple and all is great! I do have the first one I bought probably 10 years ago, and it is still going.Love them!

Yes, it does spill, but overall a good specialized tray
The tray does a very good job of creating ice that's narrow and can be put into a thermos or water bottle that has a narrow top. After you put the water into the tray, you do have to be careful putting it into the freezer as any tilting will spill water. However, it does work as advertised, and the soft top that covers it does do a good job of protecting the ice from picking up smells from the freezer.

Superior Product
I have searched a long time for the perfect ice cube tray. Sounds silly, but there was always some imperfection that caused me to retire them early - silicone that was likely not food grade and left an oil slick in my drinks. Plastic that was not BPA free. Trays that lacked lids or had lids but didn't seat sufficiently enough to avoid spillage. Or trays that just didn't offer the right cube size to fit my glass bottle. This OXO ice cube tray is AMAZING! It is BPA free, has a silicone lid that does not leave an oily film in my water and can be used as a mat for easy removal of my ice cubes. I don't mind broken cubes, so twist and upside down works for me. But the instructions suggest running water over first if you prefer your cubes in tact. The tray has a reservoir around the rim to collect excess water when I overfill or tilt the tray. Plus, the lid seats perfectly to protect the cubes during stacking which also prevents spillage. The bonus is that it happens to be the perfect size to fit right next to my 2.5 quart Tovolo ice cream tub, which I actually use to hold ice! I hand washed my trays and ran through dishwasher on top rack before first use since other silicone products I have previously purchased had an oily film. No oily film on the lids whatsoever and no funny tasting cubes (of course I use reverse osmosis water to begin with). I am thrilled with these trays and purchased them in the regular size as well. A+ for OXO on this amazing and well thought out design!

Perfect for use with my water bottle!
We recently bought a new refrigerator and after it was installed, we realized that the ice cubes it made were too large and square to fit into my narrow-top handheld hydration bottles that I use for running. I purchased this ice stick tray, thinking it would be the perfect solution to the problem, and it is! The tray is easy to fill and the sticks freeze quickly so I always have ice available for my bottle. I especially like the silicone cover that makes it easy to move the tray to the freezer without sloshing and spilling, and the lid actually creates a seal over the water so that it won't spill if it's not sitting exactly level inside the freezer. When you're ready to remove the ice sticks, simply tip the tray upside down under a little warm running water and the ice slides right out. SO easy! I might purchase a second tray as it'll easily stack right on top of the one I already have. I highly recommend this item!

This was not nearly as helpful as I dreamed it would be.
In brief, this didn't work for me. Through my review, I share how I got there and what I found to be a solution.I enjoy carrying tasty and flavored beverages around with me. Hot during the winter, cold during the summer. In the morning, it was a pain to jam ice cubes into my water bottle, which was a narrow-necked contraption I will never speak of again. While browsing my local totally-healthy store, I saw an interesting product in Hydro Flask's Ice Stick Tray. It did make these beefy little ice sticks that chilled my drinks, but they didn't last the whole day and it was a huge pain to load into the freezer. Spillage everywhere. Trying to balance it on a wire frame shelf or otherwise finagle something underneath it. Ugh.This product seemed ideal to solve my problems. Mass production of ice sticks. Their tray is a bit lackluster in delivering on this, and I'll explain how later. For starters, that silicone lid is a sweet design idea and it works well. You basically overfill the tray and then put the silicone down. This pushes out the excess water and gets things nice and homogenous. The excess water goes into a channel around the perimeter of the tray. It all seemed very impressive on the first go.The problems were not simple, though. The ice sticks are significantly thinner than Hydro Flask brand's design. I had maybe one breakage out of every twenty or thirty with the HF design. With this? I'd break about two or three per tray. That's about 5% with the other guys and 17% here. It's enough to get annoying picking up little pieces. Also, the more it breaks, the faster it will melt. Extracting the sticks is more challenging with this tray, because if you bend too far you'll be ordering a new one. But, many of the sticks are resistant to leaving their slots. As many as a third (33%) would refuse to leave the tray. Even with running warm water on the backside. I'd end up having to dig. No fun.I got rid of this tray, and have never looked back.My solution to this problem? Two angles. First, use a water bottle with a big mouth, like the Contigo Autoseal, 20 oz. Second, use ice spheres. I chose medium sized ones (~1.77 in/4.5 cm) like these, the ROX Ice Ball Maker, and they work great. There are other options, but one large mass of ice seems to work far better than lots of teeny ice cubes. All that surface area makes for watery beverages.

Expensive but works well. Bought another
The ice fits small mouth waterbottles. OXO is well designed, a bit expensive but it works. I returned another popular Amazon set because it didn’t work. Was hard to fill and leaked. This ice mold works well. liked this so much, I bought another.

Easy to wash and use!
This is bigger than I expected, but washes easily in the dishwasher and is very simple to fill and pop in the freezer. The ice does fit Kirkland Signature water bottles, but only if you slightly underfill the ice tray and then really hammer them in. Sometimes they stick and you need to either lick the ice or run water on it to get it the rest of the way in. Either way is fun!I'm delighted with this purchase. I love these little ice tubes and I'd buy another tray in a heartbeat if something happened to my current one. I highly recommend this!
