Both my daughter and I loved this book!
I read this to my seven year old daughter. We both loved it! My daughter felt a sort of bond with both Roselle and Michael. She learned about what it was like to grow up blind and she would get into an elevator and say, "Mom, look, it is braille!" as she ran fingers over the braille numbers next to the number buttons. She also learned a lot about the job of service dogs and she now takes notice when she sees them. She also learned not to run up and ask to pet a service dog and why it is important not to do so. She was so excited at certain spots in the book that she did not want me to stop reading. Sometimes I had to read another chapter even though I was very sleepy. I was also riveted to the book when we got to the part about 9/11 and I have to confess that I read the rest of the book after my daughter fell asleep. This is a wonderful and heart warming story as well as being suspenseful at times and very educational. Most importantly, it is a story that tells of overcoming adversity. I highly recommend this book! It is a great book to read to children around the age of six or seven and a great book for older children to read on their own. If you are a parent who likes to pre-read the books before your child reads it, you will enjoy this book also.

Michael Hingson does it again!
Purchased this as a gift for some junior high kiddos, which complimented the Thunder Dog books I had purchased for the adults. Roselle is a wonderful read as per all the families that received this book state that the adults enjoyed it as much as the younger ones. As I see it Michael Hingson has created a great collection of stories about his beloved dog Roselle. Can't wait to read it for myself.

Very good read
Very informative and gives you an insight to how the seeing eye dogs are trained and paired with their 'master'. Highly recommended.

9/11 Point of View from Inside WTC 1
Beyond the headline, this is a great book for young readers to learn about blindness and service dogs. While the headline misleads you to believe this is entirely about Roselle, we learn about Mike, blind since birth, and how he grew up with a disability. This book also introduces us to the folks who foster & train the dogs. Ultimately, the book leads to the matching of Roselle with Mike. Well worth it!

GREAT READ FOR ALL AGES
My grandson and I both read this book and I'm not sure which one of us liked it better! The authors addressed 9/11 in a very thoughtful manner keeping in mind that young people would be the primary audience. You can't help fall in love with Roselle and become captivated with the subtle education about blind dogs, their training and the families involved. As soon as we finished the book, we immediately went to the internet for more information about Mike, his other guide dogs and his life since 9/11. He is such an inspirational individual. GREAT READ FOR ALL AGES

Excellent book. It is remarkable how Michael Hingson could do as much as he can, for being blind and how Roselle was so dedicated and loyal to him. I learned so much about guide dogs. Remarkable book. Defiantly a must read book.

Triumphant survival in the dark
Great book for young adults and old adults. Well-written, thoughtful & insightful story about what it takes to be a guide dog; and what it takes to live life well when blind.
