New Balance KV624 Hook and Loop Uniform Shoe (Little Kid/Big Kid)

I am going to admit the ugly. I have a son. The kind of son you friend has. You know the one - he will be 40 and live in my basement. Yes, that son. So, don't ask me how old he is - because I do not want to tell you. AND he does not tie shoes - he knows the basic concept but can NOT for the love of Pete get the job done. Sigh. There you have it. Thank G-D for these velcro shoes in his size and they match his uniform AND they come in white and navy for his gym class.You could burn up the 20 minutes every morning screaming and yelling about shoes untied and shame and much more, or you can engineer a system that works for you. I spent too long wasting precious life energy with the first approach. And now we use Velcro New Balance shoes. And my mornings (and I suspect the gym class and teacher) are peaceful and my son is not upset and the house is not a dysfunctional screaming mess in the morning. lol - check back in the afternoon, though.Anyway, these sneakers are very very very well made. I get 3 pairs each September - two in black for the uniform and one in the white and navy for the gym class. They last all year and stay in great shape - they just don't wear out. They are like iron.New Balance - I am so grateful for these - never discontinue this line.

Originally bought these in a 2.5 last summer for our 8 yr. old boy. Before the 624s, he wore the 623s; very similar except the heels woud wear down on those rather quickly. The 624s fit well; they come in wide sizes, which my boy loves.Happy to report that after three different size iterations in just under a year (kids grow like weeds, especally when fed/watered), my son now wears a size 3.5 and the heels do not wear down as with the 623s. However, the size 3s blew out in the interior/anterior toe area. That could be just due to my kid’s growth--will keep an eye on it, but we're aware of other folks' experiences so the 624s coud be an iffy model.Otherwise these are great shoes and my son loves the simple black that goes well with his school uniform.

I purchased these shoes for my 8 and 6 year old boys in September at the start of the school year. They have been wearing these shoes to school everyday plus the weekends (almost six months). My boys are very hard on shoes, however; for months these shoes have shown no signs of scuff marks and continue to look great. They're very comfortable and are true to size. I did buy them in a wide size to allow for thicker socks. They look good as a classroom/uniform shoe as well as for gym class. Because they are black leather they are also a comfortable dress shoe for a young boy. I just ordered a second pair a few days ago. The shoe finally gave out on my 8 year old. The side of the shoe came undone. But, he almost had six months of wear out of them so I'm not complaining.

So I bought these shoes in August 2013. They finally started tearing at the seams in about March 2014. Because there were only a couple weeks left for school, I just let him keep using these. They were excellent and a steal considering he wore them EVERY DAY of the school year (with the exception of special dress up/dress down/non uniform days). My son is 5, the outside school playground is all concrete and he is nonstop. Played soccer at school. These shoes are NOT the nicest shoes, but we had little choice since uniform required completely black shoes (including soles). For the price, pretty great if you ask me. Oh, not to mention the shoes do NOT retain any funky smell after all day wear :)

It was hard to find non-laced shoes he required for his school gym uniform. The school uniform shop in the area did not have these shoes available in his size. We had tried several stores in the area. Thank you Amazon for having the right shoe, the right size and the right price! The shoes look exactly like the picture, the color is true black and the strap stays closed. I was hesitant to buy shoes online because of the potential for a problem with the fit or width. We have no problems. The shoe fits very well. He has room enough for thick socks and the heal is not too wide or too narrow. His foot is not pressed against the front of the shoe. I'm very pleased with the shoe and fit.

My 5 year old has worn New Balance shoes since he was a baby. His first pair of real shoes were New Balance. He has really wide feet and they are one of the few manufacturers who make truly wide width shoes for infants, toddlers, and bigger kids. We are pretty loyal to the brand so I did not hesitate to buy these (in a 12W) for him to wear to school. As expected, they are well made and comfortable. My son wears them without complaint. They are school shoes but he even asks to wear them when he doesn't have to go to school. The threads seem to fray quite a bit on these shoes but I just clip them off with scissors. We are never disappointed with New Balance. Another great purchase!

These last a really long time and they are very comfortable.

My son has used these shoes for two years running and I'm buying his third pair now. He loves them and wants to wear them even outside of school. The shoes are tough. I'm surprised by the reviews saying they fall apart because we've had the exact opposite results. I don't talk about his shoes with the other parents because they're always saying how quickly they're replacing shoes that cost as much or more than these ("better" brands...). I buy them one and a half sizes big so he doesn't outgrow them, because they don't wear out. We've gotten a WHOLE year out of each pair we've bought and I expect the same for him this year. Great shoes!
