You might want to read it. I don’t know if your tween will, tho.
I had mixed feelings about this book.Ultimately I came across to me as the sort of book an adult would want to know their vlogging youngster had read and/or is a book the adult would read to understand (and maybe help with) what their youngster was doing. For example, it has notes about being safe online, and setting up bother a P.O. Box and an alternate email address, to keep distinctions between the vlogger and their private information.But... the explanations of what vlogging is and who wants to do it, those felt very... to-who-it-May-concern-y. A vibe sort-of covering bases just to double-check everything was covered. “As you know, Bob, we like to talk about things on the internet, and there are many others like us. And different!”The content as starter content seems worth 4 stars, but I question either it would be particularly engaging for its target audience of 10-13yos. The listed length is only 97 pages, but it seemed to be often talking to the adults reading over the kids’ shoulders.Definitely would check in with your tween before buying this particular book to help with the latest project/interest.(Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for providing a digital copy of this book for review.)

basics of filming, audio, lighting, editing, choosing an online platform
"The Vlogger's Handbook" provides basic advice on how to get started vlogging. It appears to be aimed at younger people (teenagers and up), and the author chose four young vloggers to offer tips and advice on each vlogging topic. The author covered how to decide on what type of vlog you want to do, how to come up with ideas to vlog about, online safety, what basic equipment is needed and what equipment you might like to get someday, the basics of filming, lighting, sound, and editing, and choosing what online platforms to use. If you've never really done video or audio editing or have never learned to storyboard or create a story sequence, then this book will get you started off quickly with good advice and basic information. However, this book didn't provide much detail (no step-by-step projects) or cover more advanced skills, so it might not be useful if you've already done some video work.I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
