All Around-Fantastic Unit
Purchased the 12k BTU 230v 6-15 plug unit almost 1month ago (May 30, 2020). It arrived in about one week. Delivered via UPS, although they left it downstairs in foyer of my condo building, i’m only 2 sets of steps up. W/ my neighbors assistance, the 2 of us had no problems. It was packed brilliantly, w/ 4 white plastic strap thingies wrapped around entire package, tightly, strong enough to use as handles, taking my time, slid it right up the stairs. (I’m giving this info, to let ppl know of the delivery exp) sure beats me having to have gone to any store, & the (hassle of both Covid-19, & sales ppl).I already had a sleeve, this fits perfectly,w/ a tad bit of space to spare, & i used some foam supplied in generous amount btw., to fill in the space. The snap-together 4 piece frame finished off the look. Also came w/ a rear guard, which i took off the old rusty junky one, from about 25+ years & it easily screws in w/ 2-4 screws. The packing & everything was in mint condition. (i’ve tons of diff sized pieces of soft and hard foam pieces left over) i just put them away for rainy day purposes/uses.Now..as far as the operation: It works brilliantly. Cools very nicely. Easy to use. Plenty of features. Remote is great! This unit has a timer function, sleep function, & the ‘follow me’ feature on the remote is a nice touch, when u press it, it’ll display the temp on the remote(in cool mode only) of the location of the remote/which obviously is mostly always in the same room! The remote has a nice orange backlit led display. Energy Save function works great! The overall sound is not too bad, more/less like most large in wall sleeve units. I’m not exactly a ‘decible numbers expert’ but, I’m not bothered by a/c noise.So....Compared to my utter NIGHTMARE experience from 2016-2019 w/ THREE diff Frigidaires in a row!! I am SERIOUS. 1 after the other, starting w. the first replacement in 2016 of the original a/c that was in my condo when i moved in 15 years ago. Within just over a year give or take, they-each one, would slowly start malfunctioning, & totally take a nose dive. And even springing for the extra warranty, that too was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I was not about to buy a 4th one from my local Mom/Pop appliance place, who never had a straight answer, nor offered real assistance, just took my $$$, and they only sold that one lone brand-Frigidaire.. LESSON LEARNED the hard way!!The Keystone brand off the bat works like a dream, not just in contrast to my bad experience w/ Frigid., but i really love this a/c & it’s many great features and functions.I posted about 6 pics, including the front/back of the 6-15 plug, hope that helps. For me the price was right also- for a 12,000 btu, @$595-delivered to my door. As opposed to upwards of $700-$800 or more for 12K btu & larger ones, in stores. Best of luck & stay cool, healthy & safe!Chris-NY

This is my 2nd purchased & Love This AC!!!
This is the perfect AC for me! It's also the 2nd Keystone I've bought, and will most likely buy a third when the time comes. The first one bought in 2017 still worked perfectly but had ongoing black mold issues due to level and not slopped down in-wall case (improper drainage). Because I have a slum lord that refuses to fix their part, the box. Fixed my personal problem with this new one by simply drilling one huge hole under the AC itself, under the drainage outlet, so it doesnt hold water at all. It Voids any Warranty and possibly some longevity of the AC, but ensures I will Not have any black mold issues.Love this AC and Keystone!!! Keeps my small apartment (850 square feet) very cool during the summer with extra fans circulating. No higher than 74 even when it reaches 100 degrees. However, I do also face the south sun and curtains stay closed all sunny days.

Didn’t cool from Day 1. We’re returning it on Day 2.
ZERO ability to cool, and that’s for a brand new unit right out of the box. After a pretty easy installation for this through-the-wall unit, it turned on, remote and fan worked fine. But cool air never came out, even after several hours. The reassuring, low bass sound of a working compressor that normally precedes a refreshing blast of cold air was ne’er to be heard! To address this, we turned to the troubleshooting tips in the Keystone users manual (only two pages out of thirty). Sure enough, a listed problem was open “air unit does not feel cold enough.” However, none of the listed correction methods helped: (1) the temperature sensor behind the air filter element could have been touching the cold coil; but we checked, and it wasn’t; (2) setting unit to a lower temperature was also recommended; but when we set it to the minimum of 62° F the room temperature of 80°+ did not fall a single degree over several hours; and, (3) the compressor could have stopped while changing modes and we were asked to wait three minutes after setting to the COOL mode; but we let it run for hours after shifting to cool, yet no cooling ever arrived.Spending an weekend with three overnight guests was uncomfortable as you might imagine. Let’s just say we’re not the happiest of buyers right now.Upon calling Amazon, we learned that for our particular situation, replacement was not possible, but refund was. Consequently, we’ve removed this defective Keystone unit from its sleeve, box it, and are now awaiting UPS arrival to rid of its being! Thankfully, there will not be a delivery charge for the return. That’s quite good because the unit weighs about 80 pounds. Dropping it off at a UPS store would have been pretty difficult. We are replacing it with 14,000 BTU Frigidaire through-the-wall unit which actually cost less and weighs only 50 pounds, making installation even easier. (The previous Frigidaire, which we tried to replace with the Keystone had stopped working nine years after its manufacture in 2015.)This experience made us realize that maybe nine years is a pretty good life for ACs, which seem to have more variability than one might expect. Will be happy to get another nine years out of the new Frigidaire we are ordering. Wish us luck!
