Authentic Shawarma indeed!
The media could not be loaded. This is so good at least 10 of my friends in Virginia State will buy it , I should get a gift card of something from this company ... I purchased this machine in hopes to make an authentic middle eastern shawarma (Iraqi Guss) , and it just delivered above the expected results. So far I used it twice, one for chicken shawarma and for a mix of beef and lamb shawarma. I marinate the meat in special sauces and spices for at least 24 hours in the fridge, and put layers of meat stacked on top each other , I tried to make a cylinder shape so it cooked ecevly. Be patient , you will need at least 2.5 to make a first cut, use a sharp saw knife (not regular knife) and slowly saw the meat from up to down. Try to get rid of the marinate excess water before sacking. You can use beef only or a layer of beef and layer of lamb. It’s just amazing.Ahmed

works great but you need to have some basics knowledge
The appliance does a very good job, it doesn't compare with a large gas rotisserie but for a tabletop unit im very impressed. The key is to prep the meat properly, sliced/pound to 1/4-1/8 inch thick and brush on marinated and build the cone. Take your time and build it evenly pressing down to keep it even and compact. Once you have all the meat on the cone, wrap it tightly in layers of plastic wrap compressing the cone further. 2 hours minimum but as long as you think you need depending on the marinade. From the time i turned on the rotisserie until the first slice(lamb and beef mixed about 4 lb's) was 80 minutes, then it took about 20 minutes to char the meat again. depending on how thick you slice the meat by the third char you should be able to slice all of the meat off of the spit. I put the rotisserie on top of a large sheet pan to catch the meat as I sliced it. Excited to be doing al pastor next

you cant put anything larger than a small hot dog on the skewer.
Don't put anything larger than a small hot dog on the skewer, bratwurst would be too large. The heating elements are WAY TO CLOSE to the rotating assemble/ your food on the skewer. The food is rotated into the heating elements, causing the rotating center to stop and then set off your smoke detector as it burns to the elements. You cant put anything on this without it spinning into the heat elements. I simply threw this into my empty trash can, enjoying the sound of it hitting the bottom of the can. I got took, don't buy this, it wasn't cheap either, but totally useless. Glad I never had to clean it either, that looked like a greasy dust trap waiting to happen. 0 out of 5 stars

Does the job but...
First and foremost if you are looking for a rotisserie to make whole chicken on keep looking, this is not the product for you; you will want a device that is closed and covered in order to maintain the heat needed to cook a chicken properly without drying it out; besides, this thing doesn't have enough room to cook a whole chicken of typical size found in American grocery stores. That all said, if you looking to make Gyro, Tacos al Pastor, Shawarma, or Kebabs read on...The design is elegant in it's simplicity, it doesn't take up anymore counter space than necessary; I have been in America for 21 years now and the lack of a space efficient machine has been the main thing stopping me from making Gyro at home. There is certainly room for design improvements but overall this device will work well enough for making the foods I mentioned above.Pro's:Space efficientSimple design - Doesn't look bad or clash with most things typically seen on kitchen countersSturdy base - Even fully loaded with 10 pounds of meat this thing isn't tipping overVersatile - Can be used to cook shave off type dishes or a variety of kebab dishesCon's:Single Power Switch - This is the main reason I rated this 4 stars, when cooking things like the foods mentioned above you shave the meat off as it becomes seared; however because the heating element and turning motor are controlled by a single switch you lose ground on cooking every time you turn off the machine to shave the cooked part.Central post isn't a tight fit - Shaving meat would be easier if the central post could be locked or at least had a tighter fit in it's socketKebab skewers need work - The skewers slot in vertically, in theory the slight nubs they have every couple inches should stop meat from sliding down, in practice the nubs are too small, meat slides down without something bracing the bottom (I use small metal alligator clips)Overall I would recommend this product for making Gyro, Tacos al Pastor, Shawarma, or Kebabs but keep the things I mentioned above in mind.Final note: If, like me, you're familiar with electrical appliances you can modify this device so it has two switches; one for the element and one for the motor. However, I cannot stress this enough, a modification like this should not be undertaken by someone who doesn't know what they are doing, you could turn your machine into a kitchen fire waiting to happen with just a little mistake.

Small, decent household vertical rotisserie
Saw Babbish's Shawarma recipe, and this appears to be the machine he used. To be honest, I didn't know you could get your own little personal rotisserie like this for $89! We were pretty excited to try it out.Awesome. It's nothing fancy or huge, but it does a great job. It will hold about 8-10 chicken thighs worth of shawarma or about a 2-3# gyro loaf; we haven't tried to make kebabs with it yet It takes right around 1 1/2 hours for it to cook, but this turns out the closest thing you will find next to going to a shawarma or gyro place.

Good indoor cooking
This is a great way to cook taco and gyro meat indoors. The heat distribution is not that great so you tend to get areas that cook a whole lot more than others. This makes it so you tend to burn some parts if you are not keeping an eye on it and cut away the cooked parts when they are done.

Just yummy
Perfect. I bought this to try a different method of cooking. Made the sliced pork and pineapple tacos which were cooked perfectly and fell apart as they were so tender. I then made Chicken and Ham kabobs which were also cooked perfectly. I cooked all inside on my kitchen counter. It does produce heat, but on a cool day that is okay. In summer, I will most likely cook with it outside on the grill table.Shipping great, easy to use, washes up quite nicely and food is delicious.
