Fantastic finger guide for the violin!
I have been making violins for a while now, my own single maker instrument in the photos. I have had questions about finger tabs and guides, so I tested them out. This one is the winner in my personal and professional opinion.Ease of installation is very easy, there is a QR code for an installation video. I recommend following it for best success. It is important to know that the decal is single use only. After 30 minutes it cannot be removed without the decal stretched out of shape. Also don’t press the wings down until sure it is positioned correctly.I use a D’Addario tuner (can see it left of neck) to confirm violin is in tune and to check the position on the label. I am amazed by how accurate the decal is. Instructions do mention trimming the top of the label by small amount if not on tune, but I have not had to do that to get spot on results. If you have to remove it, my experience is residue free. However, if there is a little, you can use the decal to press on the residue and lift to remove it.I am quite happy with the results and will recommend it for those that ask me about a finger guide.

Great in theory and looks cool, but not great for a new player
Love the look of this. But, I am a very new player and what I really needed was a more defined 1st 2nd and 3rd finger lines. I do like being able to see what notes I'm playing. But I ended up still using solid finger tapes over this anyway. You just can't visually see where those lines should be with this one. It's too messy for a very beginner.

Such a great idea and excellent quality!
Wow! This is such a great product! This is exactly what we needed for our daughter who just started playing violin this year. It was very easy to install and is fairly intuitive! Love it!!

Everything I hoped for and more
This could not have been simpler to apply. I decided to pick up the violin at 44 because I enjoy learning stringed instruments and my daughter is starting - in this time of covid I figured it'd help for her to have someone else to commiserate with. I watched the video, applied as instructed to my beat up ebay special and it's perfect. I like the fact that while it has much more info than the lines of tape I'd had on the fingerboard, it's actually less conspicuous and provides just enough visual reference when playing. The wealth of info that's there can be referenced on the fingerboard itself when I am working on music on the page, which bridges the gap between staff learning and instrument learning and helps to connect the two. It's obvious that this was designed by a teacher. One thing I would recommend when installing that isn't mentioned in the video is to get the sticker in place on the fingerboard and just lightly press it down in a couple of spots to keep it in place and then check the intonation by trying some of the notes as compared to open strings. If you don't trust your ear, use a tuner. Once you're satisfied, then go ahead and tack it all the way down. This allows me to be so much more precise, and yes, as a longtime guitar player, this is a crutch that's right up my alley, but ultimately I expect it will continue to be a great learning tool until my lazy guitarist's fingers learn the positions without the help of the sticker - or frets!
