Everything I Need, Nothing I Don't Need
Why is it so hard to find a well-made, compact flashlight that simply turns on and provides a beam of light? Nowdays it seems like they all have multiple modes that you must click through before they behave like a flashlight. I've got some that strobe when I turn them on, then do an S-O-S thing on the next click, and only on the 3rd click can I get it to act like a frikking flashlight! This is NOT something I want to deal with when I hear the cat barfing in the middle of the night! I don't need to S-O-S a rescue plane while walking down the hall at 2-AM!Enter this little gem! The build quality is AWESOME! I have to depress the button with deliberate force which is good for preventing it from turning on by accident. I can also twist the column to disconnect the current. It's super tiny so it fits in any pocket without bulk. It comes with a convenient pocket clip, too. When I click it, all I get is a simple beam of light with a good throw pattern for something so small.Compact. Check!Built like a (tiny) tank. Check!Super simple. Check!I plan to get a few more for various rooms in my house and will give away the ones that strobe.

Cannot beat it
Well.. Wow. I do not know why it took me so long to order one of these, given their reputation. But I was only doing myself a disservice. I regularly carry a Fenix PD35 2014 Edition 965 Lumen 2xCR123A light in my left pants pocket, but it is both a drain on the pricey batteries and incredibly overpowered for your standard "I dropped something in the dark" kind of a thing, so I also always carry something else in the 9o'clock-most corner of my left rear pocket. After trying 2 and 1 AA lights I found the barrel diameter sufficient to be annoying, and moved to 2-AAA penlights. After trying several and chipping a tooth doing something with one in my mouth and something falling on the light, one with a hat clip became ideal. Enter the MicroStream, the pocket clip is excellently designed (most others rip off rather soon for me, this one has yet to even have the finish scratched) and does in fact work extremely well. Ontop of that, the momentary and constant on capabilities are done with a touch of quality one expects out of any Streamlight, Surefire, Fenix etc. without compromise from the lights size. Additionally, it is so light that I genuinely do not notice it's either in my pocket or clipped to my hat, even the HAT suffers no noticeable weight variation nor does the clip dig in to you. To top it all off, it's bright enough to shine at the ceiling and illuminate a dark room well enough to get dressed, shave, tie your tie, and be out the door. I did just that this weekend with no problems. The battery life is surprisingly long, and best of all its powered by ONE AAA (Duracell Procell for me) which makes more/spare batteries as easy and cheap as can be. I've also dropped it from about 6 feet onto a curb and then asphalt, on accident, and it didn't even scratch the finish much less affect functionality. For the price point, the fit finish and function being unsurpassed, and the assurance of StreamLight customer service, if you don't own one and are looking for a light of this species, stop looking. Don't waste your money on anything less than the Streamlight Microstream.

Best $20.00 EDC 1- AAA form factor light there is!
There are two items that are ALWAYS in my pocket, a small EDC pocketknife and this particular Streamlight C4. I have a drawer full of expensive and not so expensive lights, let me save you trouble, money and wasted energy on auditioning others...This is the PERFECT EDC light.Lets start with the switch, press down slightly for momentary on and more firmly for constant on, much more firmly. The switch is strong enough that it will not inadvertently get pressed on even if you carry it clipped to your front pocket or carried loose in the pocket itself. Nothing as aggravating as having your light come on and deplete the battery by the maker putting a soggy, weak on/off push button switch on it. This light is as bright as the 2 AAA form factor, clips and stays perfectly in a Carharrt T-Shirt pocket and lasts for at least a week of occasional use when loaded with the fantastic Eneloop AAA rechargeable battery's.The pocket/hat clip is "S" shaped so it clips to your pocket or hat brim or shirt allowing hands free use. The clip is as robust as the switch, I have yet to "Spring" one by clipping it to too thick of an object and it stays put in a shirt pocket when you clip it in there. Yes, someone mentioned that it scratches the barrel of the light when you unscrew it to change batteries, the face of my hammer gets scratched when I hit a nail also, its a tool, not a piece of jewelry, I don't notice it. It is also lightweight enough to stick in your mouth when you don't have a cap on, I just wash mine off with a sponge and a little dish soap when I think about it. Have been using it like this for years with out any ill effects or chipped teeth :)The LED is covered by a hard piece of clear glass which is nicely protected by the barrel of the light extending past it by a little bit.All in all, I believe no AAA or AA form factor lights can stack up to the perfect list of features this little light offers , all this for less that $20.00 this is as good as any EDC light gets.I have lights made by 4Sevens, Fenix, Surefire, etc. and would not trade my little C4 for any of them.It does not have a flat base so it will not "Tailstand" , this is one overrated feature of lights anyways, I would prefer the stiff exposed switch the C4 has to this ability. If I want a "Tailstand" light I will light a candle :).Bottom Line: Buy this light, you will not be disappointed. I buy them as gifts for friends and family, great for the favorite women in your life to keep in their purse or key chain and any man would certainly love one as a present.I was walking from my truck to the house the other night and would have surely stepped on a 18" copperhead snake in my front yard, in flip flops no doubt! if I had not had this light in my mouth showing the way, I had a load of groceries in each hand....

Great backup, good main light!
I purchased this flashlight 3 years ago as a backup light to my main flashlight. While I worked as an electrician I constantly resorted to this if my main light died due to always working in the dark. I loved this light because it provided enough light to keep working, runs on one battery so while the main light charges this puppy just runs, and the clip allows you to put it on a hat so no need for a dedicated headlamp. Now I’m in a union office setting and this light has become my main daily carry. My other light is too big for dress pants and this fits the bill perfectly. I use it daily and won’t look back!
