PENN Fierce IV Spinning Reel and Fishing Rod Combo

It's a great value for a 7-ft rod & reel combination. It's my favorite color (RED) so there's that. It's quality is superior to rods at twice the price in my experience. To my experience, I have been fishing 55+years and counting in both salt and fresh. I both bait cast and fly-fish. I also tie my own flies and build fly fishing rods. With all of that.... here are my thoughts on this PENN Fishing FRCIII3000LE701ML Fierce III LE Spinning Combo, 3000 sz 5 BRG, Red, Black, 300... rod & reel.Also I am a 5-ft, 1-inch tall woman so you don't need to be tall or male to use this set up.I recommend this Penn rod & reel combo for those needing:+ lightweight so one can fish all day and it doesn't kill your arm from casting+ the seal bearings in the reel are excellent for salt water fishing+ very sensitive so it's fast action which means I feel every bite so I am catching more fish with it than I do with other rods ( I own 15+ active rods and I build rods for fly fishing so I know rods)+ for beginners to experts+ seeking VALUE - great priceI don't recommend it for:- kids - it's 7-ft long so too long for small kids- Left handed people who are unfamiliar with the tedious and challenging efforts to swap the default Right handed handle setup to a Left handed configuration [ I am left handed and had to do it - it is a royal PIA! ]

Amazon shipped two poles to me one each in a box with no packing materials at all. They jammed a 6’6” pole into a 6’ box. One pole arrived missing 6” which was no where to be found. The other pole has 4 eyes bent, which I bent back in position. If I didn’t need the pole i would of sent both back for replacement. I only ended up sending the broken pole back. Otherwise the Penn product is a great product.

The Product is a good product. The problem I had was with Amazon itself. The pole arrived damaged and when I contacted Amazon about it they said they would just refund my money and just keep it. I was like awesome thanks Amazon. But after a few days I never received my refund and when I contacted Amazon back about it they said now that they can't do that. I do not agree with them telling me they would do something then take it back.

I've been fishing since the mid 70's, I've had most every type of setup from small freshwater to 8/0 Tuna and Shark rods, that being said I wanted to get back into light fishing locally (Blues, Stripped bass, Fluke, weakfish and so on max fish about 15lbs) so I went to local stores seeing what's around, after about half a day in different stores I found this combination and absolutely loved it, it's lightweight, at 9 ft it does very well in one hand (it's so lightweight) the 6000 reel really delivers a smooth seamless bail click, it's ability to retrieve lures is amazing (it will go as fast as you want without feeling like work) overall I'm super happy with this setup, I highly recommend this if you want a lightweight setup that has all the feeling of a very expensive outfit 💯💖🔥

Amazon was very understanding and swapped the product for me, free of charge. This time the packaging was 10x’s better and everything was as expected!Was excited to finally be able to purchase this combo. However, upon unboxing, I noticed the bail on the reel was completely smashed into the spool. Box was in good condition. Had to be packaged in this shape from the factory. Giving 2 stars due to rod being in good condition.(No defects/breaks). Did request a replacement so we will see what condition it will arrive in. Possible update soon.

I bought this fishing rod to fish in the Gulf of America. It is great and easy to use.

This is my fourth Penn fierce combo I have purchased. I have 3 6000 live liner combos and an 8000 standard all in the 7 foot rod length. I mainly use these on my boat for striper and blue fishing. These combos are well made, cast well, reel smoothly, and have stood up to what I’ve thrown at them.The live liner is a great feature to have if you’re running live bait like Pogie or mackerel. Lets the fish swim naturally until it gets taken then flip the switch for the fight on your normal drag setting. The rods have been bent over on larger fish 90 plus degrees and have handled it well on fish between of 20-40 lbs. Pair the reel with a decent lb test braid and you have a great fishing setup.
