Very good product
This product was recommended to me by an occupational therapist. So I bought it through Amazon and I am so happy I don’t have to ask somebody to open things for me so I can do it myself and I love it there’s so many things I can open myself now and this little project has open so many things I recommend it to anybody who has a problem opening anything

Useful, helpful kitchen tool!
There are bottles & jars with all sizes of lids that I would never be able to open if it weren’t for this kitchen tool! I bought one for a friend who agreed. I bought one for my daughter who is recovering from a serious hand injury. I bought one for my son-in-law who has a medical condition that gas weakened his grip. Best opener we have ever had. Highly recommended!

A handy gadget
We have found this jar opener to be very handy. It works on just about any size bottle or jar. Our only question is about durability. It is pretty sturdy (we haven’t had any problems with it), but it seems like it could be a bit heavier. Overall, we really like it and hope it lasts.

Excellent Design Every Kitchen Should have This!
This is one of the best designed aids for opening jars and bottles. You won’t find anything better.

A good investment no matter your age.
Purchased this product at the recommendation from my doctor who has been using it for some time. Oddly enough, we have a can opener we bought a couple of years back, that eliminated hand fatigue for us in the senior classification which is designed by these people.

Good bottle opener
It's just expensive , however it is very reliable and hopefully durable!

Opener is too loose. Doesn’t get a grip.
Opener doesn’t grip jars. Person needs a lot of steady strength to wrestle with opener.

It works sort of. . .
I've had it a few years now and never got it to work very well. You get what you pay for, This must have been very cheap.

Fine for me, unusable for my mum.
I was a little unsure how to rate this device because for me it works perfectly. The thing is, I'm a relatively young fit man and don't have trouble opening jars by hand, but I bought it for my mum who can't open jars or bottles and for her it's been a complete failure for a few reasons. The first is the hardness of the handles and the lack of any grip - they're made of plastic and a person with smaller weaker hands trying to gain purchase on them without hurting themself will find it difficult. I tried adding some rubber heatshrink but that leads onto the next problem - the size. The width of the handles once they're around a jar can be quite considerable, my mum can barely get a grip at all.Speaking of grip - biting the jar lids with the metal jaws needs pretty significant force to make enough of a dent to gain purchase. My mum hasn't managed to open a single jar because she simply doesn't have big or strong enough hands to grip the opener tightly enough. On top of that there's the difficulty keeping the opener flush whilst trying to grip and twist it - it all adds up to a device that might look good in concept but is so poorly implemented as to be unusable by many people. You might be thinking that my mum is especially weak and a bit of an outlier but that's not the case, she's fit for her age and besides; isn't that the point of this device? My sisters have similarly sized hands and had a hell of a time using it. I bought it because it specifically said "suitable for small hands" and I thought the design used leverage better than others I've seen but I was so wrong. To sum up; if you have small hands then I'd really recommend you look elsewhere as it's possible when your hand is stretched far enough to clamp a jar you're not going to be able to squeeze the handles hard enough for it to grab the lid. Even if you can there's a fair chance you'll hurt your fingers. If you have larger hands but just need a bit of extra leverage then you'll probably be fine, although I've since seen other almost identical designs with softer contoured handles that make much more sense.I think I'm going to look into buying her another type - the ones that use a grippy loop you tighten around the lid then spin with a handle - now I look at that design more closely I can't forsee any problems as it doesn't require strength and will work with any sized hand.Anyway, it's two stars purely because it does work if your hands are large and strong enough. But the fact that it requires a wide grip, not inconsiderable strength and even a tolerance for pain makes it an almost unusable solution for the women in my family. I still think the design has merit, but the opener is just too big for many of its target customers. It almost negates its own existence - if you have hands capable of using it then you can probably already open most jars!.

Should have bought this years ago!!
Why didn't I get one of these when my hands started to hurt with the effort of trying to undo screw caps on bottles?? Instead I struggled on with awful pain shooting through the base of both thumbs; tried a tea cloth, rubber glove, anything I could find to get a better grip (to be honest, I think it was the realisation that I'm getting old and will have to buy things to help with my arthritis that stopped me). After asking a friend to open a bottle for me, he said "why don't you get one of those gadgets that opens jars, bottles etc". So I ordered this as I have a few Brabantia bits in my kitchen and guess what? No more pain :-) So easy to use and it will also tighten the tops so you don't lose the fizz from sparkling water, tonic etc. Well worth the money and I really wish I'd got one sooner!

A life saver for my mum with arthritis
This is great. Mum was having a flare-up of her arthritis the other day and after making a sandwich discovered she couldn't open a jar of horseradish - very frustrating. The old rubbery jar opener didn't help at all so I ordered this universal can opener and it's AMAZING. It has teeth on it and fits multiple jars, including horseradish. Opening is effortless, you don't even need to squeeze it hard or anything.Thank you for making a product that has solved many potential kitchen frustrations for my mum, who doesn't always have the good use or dexterity in her hands that many of us take for granted.

A mixed blessing
My wife has mishapen fingers due to Arthritis and this item does help her a little (unfortunately not as much as I had hoped). My wife has difficulty with bleach bottles that need the top squeezing and has not yet been able to master opening them with this device. Also the edges of some jar tops are not vertical but slanted and even I had some trouble getting a grip on them (I have no problems whatsoever with my grip). I had trouble opening one jar myself and tried this device - MAGIC it just popped open. So if you can actually grip the appropriate top and you are able to provide the necessary grip-force this is truely ideal.Any issues I have noted are NOT due to bad design by Brabantia (My whole direct family and I have been Brabantia fans for many years). One possible improvement would be for the handles to X when closed so that when trying to open a large jar with a small hand the handles are not so far apart.

Defeats the purpose
I bought this after reading reviews. Very disappointed with the item. It is really a very big plier with multiple sizes of reams for different sizes of bottles. The trouble is that I bought this since I don't have strong grip but to use this you need strong grip because you have squeeze the handles together like a plier. For large bottle tops you may need to use two hands so who is going to hold the bottle? The other thing I noticed is that, it has multiple still reams and you can actually get hurt if your grip slips. The caps get scrapped because the grips are thin plates of metals. I was going to retun this product but with current lock down I just can't be bothered.
