Wilton Cake Decorating Basics, DVD

Very good information for getting started in cake decorating. Clearly explains about different types of frosting/icing and their properties, and more. A very good beginning. Has details I never saw anywhere else. Very helpful to have a visual presentation of techniques. Conveniently set up so you can just click on the section you want - if you don't want to watch the DVD all the way through.

I'm not expert baker but, the video was very basic. I want to learn how to decorate a cakeand I think they focused to much on the basics then teaching how to actually decorate the cakeand maybe show more examples of her decorating. not bad, but if you are looking for something more advance onactually decorating a cake. this is not for you. but if you are new to baking, this is perfect for you!

I'm definitely a beginner in cake decorating and wondered if a book would be enough to get started. I ended up ordering this DVD anyway and I'm so glad I did. It's very easy to use (each lesson is only a couple of minutes, easy to watch a few at a time) and full of helpful tips that I don't think I would have found in books alone.

I bought this for my daughter, she has really enjoyed the dvd She is just starting out and enjoying it alot

I attended a cake decorating class conducted by a Wilton teacher several years ago and I was very disappointed with the experience. The class was much too crowded and I did not receive the personal attention I needed.I am extremely pleased with this video as it covers all the basics that I require plus I can review it any time I so desire!

First and foremost I must say Wilton is my number one choice for most tools and products. They have my respect for holding years & years of teaching standards above most in the industry. However, that being said, this DVD probably should have not made it past the first stage in the Marketing Division. It somewhat baffles me why Wilton didn't set a higher standard for a *professional* to demonstrate procedures in a longer DVD (or a series of DVD's) that you see the technics Begining to End with a professional look. I actually feel sorry for the women in this video and am very dissapointed in Wilton. I seriously wondered at one point if the cakes she was showing AFTER her short demomstrations of *sloopy technics* were actually cakes SHE did and not ones a professional did. If I didn't know better and this were the first time hearing or seeing a Wilton presentation, I would be looking elsewhere for my baking needs. What a shame.....One would only hope that if Wilton considers doing something of same again, or if they have and I have not seen it, that it's presentation and professional standards are as notable as the Wilton name has been for years.

This dvd is a must for any cake decorator. It is presented in short and easy to understand segments. It works great for the beginner or as a quick refresher. The instructor did an outstanding job of both explaining and demostrating?

I bought this as additional information to the cake decorating class I am taking but I have found the information to be very limited and sometimes different from what I am told in class. I am still viewing all the sections but I viewed the decorating ones first. I would recommend it for "extra" information but certainly not enough that you could watch this video and then decorate a cake. Information is very basic as the title says.

The DVD is really not worth it. It's clips are too short and not that clear as the angle the shot has been taken is too far to see the decorations. The presenter rushes through the decorations. You are better off watching something online on YouTube.

Before I sat down to write this review I was going to check so I could remind myself what ancient year exactly this old, horrible DVD was produced. Unfortunately, I have already thrown it out so I cannot recite the exact production date for you here as I had hoped. This movie is not only horrible as far as content, it is horribly produced. Now, to be fair, if you have NEVER iced a cake before and are sure you are so bad at it that you are worried that it might end up looking like three five ton buses just ran over it, this DVD may have a tip or two for you possibly. Even the star of the show who demonstrates the tips is unable to produce anything I would take out of the house. The tools she uses are very outdated or primitive. There is nothing in this DVD on modern tools such as silicone molds, fondant, gumpaste, impression mats, etc. This DVD is not for the personal baker that likes the professional flair.
