Hi Mackey, I would say it depends on the type of fish you have, fresh water v. salt water, and what else is in the tank. I have a fresh-water tank, guppies, gravel, and a few novelties. They do sink to the bottom, although I have them placed there. I originally purchased these as goodie bag items, so there are only a few in the tank. It's plastic, no harmful chemicals to the fish that I am aware of, or have had incident with, but I would suggest you talk to pet store or vet to verify for your specific needs.
