This piece has a nice weight to it, and the overall form and size is very comfortable for a good grip. I've tried all the functions in the last hour (hic!) and it's been fantastic. The spring for the first stage is spring loaded and kind of tight, but once you have the corkscrew seated it takes minimal effort to engage. What I like about this design is that the first stage doesn't get in your way like the standard loose hinge design. It's a small difference, but I appreciate it.The design on the supports is nice, but not deeply etched - it's stamped, and just a bit unevenly. It looks like the unit I got was late in the production run as the stamp is not clear, indicating wear on the metal face. Still, it looks nice, and is a welcome extra bit of detail.The foil knife is a good size, and the serrations are kind of small, which gives you more cutting surfaces. I was able to get through a moderately thick foil in one pass easily.I like that all the pins are tight but smooth, meaning it's not likely to fall open (or apart) any time soon. And the wood accent on the handle is pretty, if a little bit rough. I'd be happy spending just a few dollars more on nicer wood, like ebony or cocobolo, but this rosewood is attractive and slightly understated. It will look great on a bar with your shaker and other implements.The one thing I would do differently is have the bottle opener reversed - that way you would be pushing down and applying better leverage to the cap. However, this is completely personal preference, and it operates just fine.**Additional commentI have used this on a number of corks now, synthetic and natural. The groove actually does help! While I've not tried it on a dry cork, yet, this one goes in very smoothly, and removes easily as well. I didn't think that little change would be noticeable, but it really is.

I opted for this wine opener from " Simply Eezy " because I wanted a real quality opener. The pictures of this opener on Amazon were beautiful, the product looked like a real quality opener and the reviews were great. When it arrived I immediately noticed the wood color is much darker which negates much of the reason and the beauty of wood. The second thing I noticed is the workmanship of the metal where the wood handle is inlaid. To me it looks amateurish compared to the openers depicted in the pictures I ordered from. It appears that the person running the grinder was less experienced than the one who produced the openers used in the pictures. Disappointed? Yes! Would I order another? No, I would probably opt for a non wood handle opener and save a little money.

I have plenty of corkscrews including the ( overpriced and overrated IMHO) Chateau Lxxxxxxx. This is now my go to corkscew!Love it! Had it for a few months now and already opened maybe 100 bottles. Still seems brand new. It's easier to use and is holding up better than its french counterparts. If it were to break, than I would just buy another for that price.

The aesthetics are what drew me to this product; I wanted something that was presentable in a fine dining environment and I was also curious about the lever future. Compared to wine tools I have used in the past, this one is a little less efficient. As a bartender, I open many bottles of wine so the knife is a very important feature. While sharp, it is a little hard to utilize the knife(I was unable to open with one hand via the thumb nail divet; instead I have to use two hands to bring out the knife, and its on the opposite end of the wine tool, which means I have to adjust my grip before I insert the corkscrew, I've been using the product for a few months now). The lever is a great concept, however it takes some skill to uncork the bottle without the undesirable audible "pop".

This wine opener is well designeded, sturdy, hefty, functional, and elegant. I have been using a large lever type opener which also worked well, but this takes up less space and is more fun to use. I love it!
