Not What I Was Hoping For
I bought this book because I was contracted to help a company transitioning to SAP for the first time and they needed someone to help them clean up their data, propose some new MDG policies, and do a little training on how life would be different with SAP vs the old ERP were everyone had admin access. The consultants were still around making configuration changes to the system and their documentation was... to put it nicely... crap. They just wrote down the bare minimum of what areas they changed and the value they changed it to. There was nothing describing why they settled on that value, what other options there might have been, and the significance of each option. The consultant's report was just dozens of pages of content with no real substance. So, I picked up this book hoping it might help me fill in some of the gaps, but it really wasn't what I was hoping for in that regard. It's more or less exactly the same thing as the consultant's report, except that it covers areas that the company I was contracting for didn't need, so were ignored by the consultants. I'm sure this book has its use cases, but none of them were what I was looking for.

Contains detailed information about MM
In my personal experience, I purchased this book to learn more about MM. It has provided a lot of insight into the world of MM. A lot of content to go through, but worth the time to invest as MM. It may not have all the answers you need to MM, but definitely a good intro for those who are new to SAP wanting to dive deeper into MM.

Strategic assets for managing MM S/4 Implementation
With 25+ years in the SAP ecosystem, I’ve led numerous enterprise transformations, including S/4HANA programs across industries. This book stands out for its structured approach to SAP S/4HANA Materials Management. It provides clarity on core processes—procurement, inventory, MRP, business partner integration, etc. —while remaining grounded in S/4-native capabilities. It’s not just for functional consultants; it’s a practical reference for delivery leads who need to validate scope, monitor design integrity, and guide MM teams with confidence. Highly recommended for overseeing end-to-end SAP delivery.

These are huge reference books, and one can always learn a thing or ten!
I'm working with SAP for 20 years in Europe and across the US. When I am on implementation teams or doing trainings I always recommend the books by Jawad Akhtar. Sometimes I have asked the local project teams to buy a copy for every team member right at the start of the project. These are huge reference books, and one can always learn a thing or ten!I feel that one of the reviewers left an unfair review when they said it was not good for beginners. There is something in this for everyone. It does, however, right there on the cover say that it goes into 'configuration'. That's a place a beginner wouldn't usually be going anyway ....
