Q: Can u mount these horizontally on a wall and handle a side load ok instead mounting like on a bench top ?

Yes they work great for this application. Make sure you have a stopping mechanism

Q: How much weight can each bearing block hold? I'm wondering if several of the bearing blocks can support 1,000 pounds on 2 rails.

I think 1000 pounds (250 per bearing block) would be a stretch. Certainly would not instantly fail, but service life would probably be short. Adding two additional pairs of bearing blocks (for a total of 8) would probably be fine. If well supported, I think the rails would be fine with that load. Amazon sells just the bearing blocks.

Q: Could I use these mounted to a floor to place a large appliance on (~500 lbs) to move/slide back and forth easily with one person?

Yes. I top mounted a 300 pound cabinet for the same purpose.

Q: What size screws fit in the bearing?
