It is too tall for my Audio Technica turntable cover when closed. I found out the hard way as I was playing some vinyl and all of sudden my unit shut down because of the clamp rubbing on the turntable cover. It left a slight halo on the cover much to my dismay. So, I have to leave the cover up when playing music.

So, like you I was skeptical. Is it a gimmick? It’s this dorky audiophile technical BS that won’t make a bit of difference for a regular guy whom wants clean, clear, balanced sound? Hum... $20... Let do it.So, I wont waste your time giving you useless specs or telling you all about my audio configuration. Nobody cares. You only care about how YOUR setup sounds.Sound: noticeable improvement. Seriously. Noticeable. Not drastic, or earth shattering, but noticeable... How so, you ask? To me, the bass response. Deeper, clearer, tighter bass. Also, on the highs, they seem to sound a bit clearer. Hissing and popping for dust albums seems to clean up a bit.I chose this model over other higher quality and heavier disc stabilizers because it is lighter than many. This may seem counter-intuitive, but for most people that this appeal to are likely folks who want better sound but quite afford that $1k plus turntable. So, too heavy of a weight on a budget turntable may affect rpm or create excessive wear on the platter, belts, drive motor etc for tables not designed to handle the additional weight.I do notice a slightly slower startup, but once up to speed no noticeable issues with holding correct rpm .Great accessory, and work trying for yourself.

I have another one that the price is double the price of this Feir weight and they are nearly identical. They are the same 14oz weight and equal in quality of manufacture. The bevel around the top of the expensive one is about twice as wide as this Feir weight and has a slightly glossier paint with a different logo, other than that they are identical. Due to the controversial effectiveness of these devices, I recommend not spending your hard-earned dollars on this type of thing; I used my Amazon points on both of mine. Spend your money and effort on cleaning your records, which will allow you the very best sound you can hear with your particular system.Warning: If you like to close your dust cover, when you play your records. be sure the weight does not touch it before you start your turntable! These weights clear the dust cover of my Technics SL-1700 turntables by 1/16" to 1/8" and that is it!Now onto the big question, do these make your records sound better? That is highly debatable! They definitely help press them to your mat, and they can help a little bit with a slightly warped record, which shouldn't make any difference anyway, if your turntable is set up correctly. I have tried playing different albums, with the weight on and then the weight off. I have put the weight on during play and removed it during play. I hear no appreciable difference, right about the time I think it makes a difference, I remove it and decide there's no difference! I had a friend over one day and asked him if he heard a difference, he said the bass seemed a bit more defined. I do not hear that. You'll have to try it for yourself and decide. Keep in mind, a clean record is the best way to make them sound as good as they can sound...on any system.My system is not high end, but it's not low end either...I'm using a 100 watt per channel Kenwood KA-880SD amp with .003% total harmonic distortion at 1,000Hz, 2-Technics SL-1700 turntables with Ortofon 2M-Blue cartridges and Polk Audio Signature S60 Series speakers.

It's a great price for something of this quality. I don't really like the logo on the top, but it's lighter than it shows in the photos (plus I covered it with a sticker). It has a soft pad on the bottom so it won't mess up your records, and it fits perfectly on the spindle. The weight of it seems to work well on my older LPs.
