How do i get the cards on the ring?

The ring opens by exerting oppostite force on the clasp, then pulling apart. The arms clip together (opposite the hinge) and need to be opened before they can be swung apart.

Are these laminatèd so they dont get torn up?

Currently they are not laminated but they are made of playing card material.
