I Really Like this Item
I will try to be as honest as possible because I depend on other people's reviews and feel I want to help the best I can: I really enjoyed this book. It's Large and has a hardcover and lots of crisp color photos in it to go along with the story. When I say large, I do mean much larger than the standard Rock Bio books I get and read. I think that just makes it feel more of a top quality than anything. The story was told in a fashion that allowed me to not get bored about the childhoods of the players. Many books take a few pages describing the relatives of rock stars, and what the relatives did. That can be okay sometimes, but boring others. I highly recommend. Good Luck.

Gift for an Eagles fan
I bought this as a gift for my dad who is a huge Eagles fan. I was worried it would be a lot of what he already knows about the band but he was flipping through it and was really excited to read it. Definitely some cool photos in there!

Good Eagles history
This is a well-written, beautifully photographed and edited book. The author spent time with the original band in the early years; he has followed them throughout to whatever degree they made possible (and to whatever extent possible during the long separation); his conversations with Glenn Frey were particularly frank, and Don Henley's quotations are excellent as always. Fong-Torres knows his music, and he seems to understand the band members and their interactions well. I know this band to some degree, and I would say that he increased my own understanding of both music and players. I had a small criticism, though possibly not small to the person involved. The backup drummer from some years ago was mentioned by name, but not the current one; he's excellent and deserves a credit in a future edition. Overall, an excellent book, recommended to me by some rock critics.

Really Cool Book
I ordered Eagles Taking It To The Limit after the untimely death of Glenn Frey. I've been a fan since they dropped the first album but thought of them as the band collectively and not necessarily as the amazing individual musicans they have proven to be.. This book is a nice inside look at the guys, their peers and an overall insight into the music business during the 70's. The pictures are great and I must confess my heart almost fell out of my chest when I turned the page to a full color shot of the origional bass player, Randy Meisner. (For any Meisner fans out there that picture is worth the price of admission.) All in all Ben Tong-Torres book is an entertaining look at one of the all time greatAmerican bands .Don't hesitate to order this one.

Taking it to an Eagles fan's birthday limit
Purchased as a gift for an old friend who is a lifelong Eagles fan. I skipped the band's music catalogue since she already has 'em all. The book was a big hit. Something new, something a bit different, she said, digging right into the book. Pictures got the first run through, followed by about an hour of immediate reading. She said it makes her miss Glenn Frey more than ever. Yeah, a big hit, thank you very much.

A Must Read for Eagles Fans
Ben is a fellow San Francisco State alum. He was the editor of the school paper, and I a staff cartoonist, right before his ascent to fame as an editor of Rolling Stone Magazine. I never get tired of listening to the Eagles, or reading Ben's prose. He researched the history of this gifted group exhaustively, and recounts their breakups and makeups in a very readable, entertaining way. Loads of pictures. Another winner from Ben.
