I was a skeptical when buying, but I have to say the Valiant Eagle spinning reel is a very good option if you want an affordable reel that will catch most freshwater and inshore saltwater species. The reel is fairly light, with generous spool capacity, a strong drag system, casts well and has a fast line retrieve. I use it in saltwater and give it a light freshwater spray rinse after each use. So far I have had zero issues. I have more expensive, premium brand reels that are smoother and quieter and will likely last longer, but those reels cost anywhere from $100 to $200. Although I do prefer my expensive reels, I have caught a lot of nice fish with the KastKing Valiant Eagle spinning reel and own three of them. The Valiant Eagle may not be a true 5 star reel compared to premium reels from the likes of Shimano, Daiwa, Penn and others, but among the budget reels offered on Amazon I rate it 5 stars, especially when on sale at around $35.

Great reel, 6.2:1 gear ratio, a spool diameter larger than most for less line coils and an anti reverse switch. Drag is good and click adjustment so it will stay where you put it. I bought the 4000 to get a larger diameter spool and it’s plenty large diameter. Not all models have both the anti reverse switch and 6.2:1 ratio. I’m very happy with the reel.

Looked at a lot of reels at this price point. Features and specs were key. Materials, retrieval rate, drag, line capacity etc. Even held a few in my hand at the big box store . l liked the look, loved the name so, I got one. Have not been disappointed. Goldilocks IMO. I am not a professional fisherman, I spend my own hard earned money and simply enjoy fishing without gear related problems.

This is my fourth KastKing reel and won’t be my last. Compared to similar reels in this price point from Diawa or Penn, there is no comparison. These reels are all metal, stainless bearings, sealed internals and they are serviceable and smooth as butter. This Golden Eagle was a gift for my brother-in-law and he loves it! Great look but more importantly great performance.

Twenty two pounds of smooth drag. I have bought several of this 3000 size model and use them fishing tournaments. Loaded them with line for 6lb to 40lb, both P Line Floraclear, and braid. Drop shot, skipping, to swim baits all on Kastking Speed Demon rods. I also use Speed Demon casting setups too. Value is the key for me. These reels perform, and compair to more expensive reels. Catch a big one, take a pic, and put her back. Don't eat your toys.
