Effective and Entertaining
Neil Pasricha lists some standard bits of self-help advice on one page, like “follow your heart,” “do what you love,” “don’t give up,” etc., but he’s well aware that you can stack all such hopefully great pieces of wisdom ever written on one page and keep reading them until you can say them backwards, forwards, and sideways, and they won’t help you one bit in the real world. The reason is that this stuff has to have context and it has to be not just memorized but integrated into your way of being. YOU ARE AWESOME achieves this to an amazing degree. Pasricha has a gift for inventing fresh meaningful aphorisms and weaving them into his narrative in the form of vivid and instructive anecdotes, most of them concerning himself, some painful, some hilarious, like how when working at Proctor & Gamble on an elite track that could lead becoming CEO, he was placed in the Performance Improvement Plan, a reliable indication that he was about to be fired. This book is a delight to read. Whatever you rank on the awesomeness scale when you start reading it, you’re likely to rate several notches higher by the time you finish.

How Awesome is This?!
With Neil, you can expect honesty, openness and the feeling that you are getting some heartfelt and non-judgmental advice from one of your warmest friends. Why do I say non-judgmental? Because Neil opens up his past to all of the things that many of us don't speak of just because we may be ashamed. He wants you to know that not only is all of that OK (and he's not judging!) but that in order to move past it, you have to move through it. Own your past, your messy, less-than-perfect life that each and every one of us have and soon you'll be stronger for it. Trust this man and believe in his process. He has nothing to hide and everything to give. Not a self-help book, an honest account of becoming resilient when we find the courage to open up to our past and say, "it's OK. It happened. All hope is NEVER lost." Please read Neil's book. He's rooting for you. And I am too!

This BOOK is awesome - what a joy to read!
There is SO MUCH GOOD in this book. I listened to it because I needed a pick-me-up while I was driving, and I like the author's voice as well; it felt like a personal conversation. I can't wait to find his other books and grab them as well. Two things that I will mention, that I really want to remember - Add a ... to the end of things when you hit one of those speedbumps or big changes in life. It's not the end, it's just a pause that's waiting for the rest of the sentence. And then the story of the wise farmer who said "We'll see" every time something amazingly good or seemingly horribly bad happened. So much good...I'm going to buy the print version as well.

Even better than expected!
Not only did I unknowingly buy the hardcover version, this book came signed by the author!! Plus, shipping was doubly quicker than I expected. Very happy with this seller!

Awesome book!
I started loving Neil's work from the book of awesome ("being the 100th reviewer on a product you love- awesome!:) I give that book as a gift sometimes. But his recent move into writing more substantive self-help books has been wonderful too. The Happiness Equation and You Are Awesome combine his fun, personal humor and narrative with research based mental health tools and empowerment. Totally worth the read!

Possibly a one sided agenda
A lot of good points but I definetly didn't like the white privilege aspect of it. Definetly not worth the buy.
